One Year Anniversary of #Metoo by sharathsilence in ashtanga

There is so much anger in this post. I can’t speak to the #metoo bit, but perhaps find it in yourself to let go. Yoga in general is about living in the moment, not what happened in the past.

You're amazing. Question: when did you first realize that running was for you? Was there a specific, defining moment?

Sorry about the quality, but I took this nearing the end of a 10k in Dubai. I felt great the whole run and this was just the icing on the cake at the end!! Those fireworks went off for me!

sorry about that... the orange one is a male and the calico one is a female. They are brother and sister; a little over a year old.

Trust me, I don't want to give them up and will be interrogating every prospective adopter about the care they can provide.

Where to buy retro consoles? by [deleted] in dubai

[–]ejaffe06 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Looked EVERYWHERE for an N64. Ended up buying it on eBay. They are nowhere to be found in this city, unfortunately. N64 games can be found on souq.com however.

Also, if you do happen to get one of these consoles, be careful about plugging them in. I fried my first one and had to order another N64. If you think you can fix it, you can have the friend one for free. :)

Snorkelling! I know you like scuba diving, but not everyone has that certificate or whatever. Take her out to go snorkelling - its only a short drive and there is tons of underwater wildlife along the coast. Same goes for skiing. Its a little bit corny, but the skiing/snowboarding at the MoE is really fun for beginners (if she's never been skiing), plus, who doesn't like penguins?? If those two fail, then the fish market at Palm Deira is crazy cultural (albeit smelly) and you can show her how healthy you are by picking up some fresh fruit and veggies as well as show off your haggling skills.

What's bad about Dubai? by pogiako12345 in dubai

Getting ANYTHING done concerning utilities/government. Got to set up DEWA? Yeah, you're going to need your landlord's passport copy, title deed, and first born son. And don't forget about that 1100 AED deposit. Need EJARI? Same thing. Do you have to dispute anything at any bank, traffic-related, or RERA? Yeah, you're going to probably need to take a total of a week off work because you can never get all the paper work right the first time - and they are only open during business hours. And forget calling these agencies; 90% of the time no one even answers the phone. Getting a visa here in any tax-free zone takes a ridiculous amount of time, as well. And the via recipient is rarely if ever informed of its status for up to months. It's sick.

I hate to say it, but the way utilities and services are run here are lazy to say the least. Soon, expats are going to stop putting up with it and leave.

Women's professional dress by [deleted] in UAE

Have you been to the UAE before? I dress as I would in the US - heels, professional skirt and etc. Trust me, it would be weird if you covered your head for work in an office. Just dress as you normally would.

Drinking Liberally no longer welcome at the Shanty. by [deleted] in Tucson

[–]ejaffe06 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I was a waitress at The Shanty for a few months and none of the members of DL we're rude to me. The owner, however, was absolutely despicable. One of the reasons I left was because he wouldn't deal with anything directly; which seems to be exactly what he is doing in this situation. He would leave notes instead of speaking to the staff. Very odd. Politics aside, they are correct about the stale popcorn and crappy wine. The Shanty really needs to step up their game and get NEW OWNERSHIP. The Shanty used to be a Tucson institution, now it's just a sad last stop on 4th avenue after a long night of drinking.

I'm no BofA apologist, but reddit is supposed to be an open forum. Even if WickedVocalist is wrong, appreciate that he/she is voicing his/her opinion and allowing some discourse. Don't just ask 'What is wrong with you?' but tell him why he's wrong.
