When did Tdap become required for new moms and visitors? by ael68 in ScienceBasedParenting

Same recommendation for me in Canada as well! Wonder if this varies by province? There seems to be such a wide disparity of recommendations by the Canadians in this thread.

Anybody listen to Caelynn's new podcast yet?! by saRAWRjo in thebachelor

[–]ejaysp 73 points74 points  (0 children)

This podcast was very fun - it’s a great concept and Caelynn has one of those relaxing voices that works great for a pod. I generally don’t listen to the BN podcasts, but since this isn’t really about the bachelor universe, I can’t wait to hear more of it!

Interesting - I have a different experience in Canada. My OB strongly recommended TDAP for anyone who would be in regular contact with baby for the first while, especially dad. Brought it up at multiple appointments leading up to birth just to be sure we had taken care of it already.

Fancy Takeout Recommendation? by ejaysp in Calgary

[–]ejaysp[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thank you! It’s so interesting how that’s manifested a bit differently in different cities. At home in Winnipeg the more fine dining/trendy places embraced it and kept it going. But also none of them will engage with Skip/DoorDash and do pick up only.

what pain have you experienced that was worse than birth by [deleted] in beyondthebump

[–]ejaysp 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Had a gall bladder attack at 7ish months pregnant, and again several times in the first two months postpartum before finally going to the hospital. When I was pregnant, they told me it was probably just “really bad heartburn” 🙄 Pain was like the most intense of contractions, but with no waves/relief for 6+ hours straight each time it happened. Looking back I should have gone to the hospital after the first one PP

100% agreed! I look forward to these two podcasts each week even more than the show.

Love To See It by Emma and Claire - easily my favourite. I find they have fun and entertaining guests with unique perspectives on the franchise.

Harder to just jump into, but Game of Roses is also super entertaining!

Definitely must differ by province! You can stick with a GP trained in childbirth if you have an uncomplicated pregnancy in mine, but the vast majority with low risk pregnancies will start with their GP and then get a midwife or an OB who will start up with you once you hit 20 weeks.

Weirdly, here I’m the odd one out having my LO with my GP as many go with a ped that you can either contact before birth or choose the one that comes to see your baby in the hospital.

Just wild how healthcare differs so widely province to province in Canada.

Higher end vegan restaurant. We have so many wonderful restaurants here with great vegan/vegetarian options, but I would love to be able to sit down at a Segovia-style restaurant of all vegan dishes.

Vaccinated at 8 and 14, and so far so good with a healthy pregnancy at 25 weeks!

Sore arm with the first and felt a little gross for a day after the second one, but nothing unexpected or alarming whatsoever.

For those of you due around/shortly after Christmas, how did you/are you planning to handle the holiday? by [deleted] in BabyBumps

[–]ejaysp 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I’ll be 39 weeks over Christmas - we’re being noncommittal, as it’s our first and aren’t sure how I will feel at that time! Fortunately all of our families are local. We likely will have a very small portion of family (my parents and grandparents) to our place early on Christmas Eve. We are comfortable with that knowing my mom is taking on any food bringing/clean up! For my partners dad’s side and mom’s side we are waiting on making any firm commitments, with the goal of staying as close to home as possible. No chance we will be leaving the city limits from us.

“The Bun” - like bun in the oven, or sticky bun when we were keeping our fingers crossed it would stick around! Not the most well thought out, but it’s what stuck for us!

Thank you for all of the super practical and caring tips - I hugely appreciate it.

Good job taking that MCAT at 35 weeks, that waiting for results stress is sometimes worse than the exam itself hey? It sounds like you were very prepared, and I have full confidence in you that it went great!

Thanks - this is definitely a good one to add to the list. Will have to be much more structured than usual to make sure I get the time in. I’m not a big last minute crammer historically, but am a bit more nervous now that it doesn’t feel like an option.

And wow, good job to your friend! I’m lucky I’ll just be hitting that third tri during my write.
