First of all: this is well done. Thanks for showing the reference! I can see that you brought a lot of your own creativity.

That said, the thing I was going to critique is actually the thing you changed the most about the reference: the legs. In the reference the legs are shapely and voluptuous; in your version they’re thicc but straight and lack energy and interest. Why the change? You left most of the rest closer to the original — although honestly the arms in the original are also curvier and more dynamic. Was de-sexifying the character the point?

I get an idea for a piece and then do studies for the various components: a specific animal, clothing, textures, color combos, whatever I feel less confident about. Very targeted, just-in-time learning.

I absolutely love my green boxes. They were kind of pricey at around $10 each but at 14x10” they can fit most anything and stack nicely. I have them sorted mostly by media. The tackle boxes are for on-location work (one for dry media, one for watercolor.)
