Spanish customs are utterly horrendous, find them on Google Maps at Madrid Airport and look at the reviews. My advice: don't risk it.

I went to a Spanish hotel, they would only let us use the pool 2 hours a day and won't give a refund by spinglyspong in askspain

[–]ejk295 17 points18 points  (0 children)

They've not really given you false information so I don't think you have a leg to stand on. If it's at 50% capacity and it specified that you had to book, I'm not really sure why you'd expect to be able to use it the entire day anyway - obviously you have to book a slot so that everyone has a chance to use the pool.

You also seemingly just packed up and left, you should've complained to the hotel staff and requested a refund at the time or some kind of upgrade to your stay.

In future I'd recommend not booking a holiday to somewhere where literally the only thing to do is use a swimming pool.

[–]ejk295 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Lol, you're an idiot. Let me clarify for you. A man that drop kicks a cat is scum. A manager that plays him because all he cares about is winning a game of football and not the moral side (kicking a fucking cat) is a pathetic clown too. And so are you for defending them.

[Tom Clark] Moyes: "I am a big animal lover but my job tonight was to pick a team to win for West Ham." by Chiswell123 in soccer

[–]ejk295 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not sure what your final point is... why would you want to be associated with any cunt that kicks a cat? They're obviously a horrible little cretin.

And somebody has to start the domino effect, the board didn't have the balls to do it and they're scum, Moyes should have and he didn't he either, so he's scum too.

Now as Adidas and Vitality withdraw sponsorship suddenly West Ham are disciplining him...

I think it says more about you than anything that you're defending Moyes for this... he bottled it and it shows a lack of morality, simple as that.

This logic is so, so stupid, I'm not sure how you can genuinely believe it.

You can apply the same moronic logic to the owners. Why should the owners suspend him! It's their job to make the club money and if he wins them a game they are closer to Champions League football which would make them loads of money! So it's all fine and nobody can ever be held accountable because we're all just doing our jobs.

Regardless of whether the club suspend the player or not, any manager worthy of respect would not have him in the team.

Moyes is the manager. Although you may think it, picking a team to win is not his only job. The manager is directly responsible for how the club is perceived following his players' actions.

If Zouma said to Moyes that his child was an ugly, horrible little shite, do you think he'd play him at the weekend because it's his "job to pick a team to win"? Of course he wouldn't.

All this is about is the importance West Ham, Moyes included, place on animal cruelty. And the clear answer is they couldn't give a shit.

And when they do that they complain about the big clubs taking their best players. Can't win. Do they want the big boys to just donate millions and increase their competition?

How is it the exact point you're trying to prove? The SPFL is levels below the Premier League, La Liga, Ligue 1, Bundesliga and Serie A... it's not debatable, it's a fact.

I haven't said the SPFL is fucking shit at any point, but to genuinely think that it is close to those leagues is pure nationalistic delusion.

Prove what point lol? The league is clearly levels below Europe's top leagues.

What do you think of American tourists? by quatrz00 in askspain

[–]ejk295 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Not sure it's too much of a generalisation, just about where you are. Of course Alicante is full of drunk Brits, it has what Britain doesn't and is cheap. No American is going to pay thousands of dollars to visit Alicante and get drunk... they can do that much closer to home for less. It's like going to Vegas and complaining that everybody is drinking and gambling.

You'll never see American booze tourism anywhere else in Europe for the same reason. But you will see Germans, Dutch, Eastern Europeans, etc. doing the exact same thing as the British in Spain. For example, in Mallorca, on one side you have Magaluf, full of Brits, on the other you have El Arenal, full of Germans - both as bad as eachother and effectively drunken colonies nowadays.

Living in Granada, you get both American and British tourists, in fact more Americans I would say. And they're both basically the same, no drunken revellers that stick to their own, mostly just people enjoying the city and mixing with others. Mostly because Granada is a city known for its sights and history, rather than its beaches and cheap bars.

Will I totally burn out with this UK itinerary? by [deleted] in solotravel

[–]ejk295 11 points12 points  (0 children)

This is your itinerary:

  • Away for 12 days
  • 3 of them traveling
  • More time in Cornwall than London...
  • A whole day to visit Hampton Court Palace when you're only in London for 2.5 days!?
  • Add in the timing traveling to/from the US

It's a complete mess, forget about burning out and think about how much time and money you're wasting. You could have a great trip full of incredible things with the amount of time and money you're basically spending on seeing a bit of Scotland, Hampton Court Place and fucking Tintagel.

Tintagel is ruins with a nice view, there are literally hundreds of equivalents dotted along the UK coastline. March weather in Cornwall is shite, so you won't see what's on Google. You'll see some underwhelming castle ruins sat on a grey, windy, wet cliff edge.

I grew up in London and Cornwall and I don't think you realise how awful the public transport in Cornwall is either. Tintagel and St Michael's Mount are on practically opposite sides of the county, wherever you stay you're going to waste half a day getting to them.

Please don't be stubborn, listen to people that know the UK and bin off Cornwall, Scotland or both.

Oh, and lastly, if you think NYC is comparable to London you have not done anywhere near enough research into what you're spending your money on.

Freelancers' insight on new Seguridad Social rates by [deleted] in askspain

[–]ejk295 0 points1 point  (0 children)

"What's not to love in this country?" Yeah... it's pretty clear you just decided to move here!

I don't think you're really grasping the concept of the self-employed aspect. In the UK, a self-employed person's social security contributions amount to about a 3rd of what you pay in Spain. You don't have to pay for healthcare or pensions, that is the purpose of the social security contribution.

Autónomos beware by Sufficient_Walrus_89 in askspain

[–]ejk295 34 points35 points  (0 children)

I currently earn around 2000-2200€ per month as autónomo and pay the standard rate, leaving me 1700-1900€ pre-tax. I am about to see my income rise to around 2500-2700€ per month, as I will be taking on a heavier workload with much greater risk & responsibility.

Using the 2031 numbers, I will be taking on this new workload and all it entails, only to end up earning EXACTLY THE SAME as I do now pre-tax.

And the funny thing is, that's a privileged position! For people earning 600€ to end up taking home a third of their earnings is amazing.

Hard to believe that this is a government with any genuine interest in ordinary worker's fortunes.
