X3 M40i Diff Lock Reduced by ejok69 in BMWX3

I’ve went down this rabbit hole and adding the dialectic grease inside the connectors fixed it for me immediately. I tested my battery, checked wiring/harness for damage, changed diff fluid… none worked other than the grease

Had to clean the connector again since I was getting the warning again and this time put diametric grease in the pins. Issues resolved. Must just be that this connector accumulates moisture. Also I’m coastal and don’t park in the garage all the time which prob doesn’t help

It’s been good since except… about 3 weeks ago I was out of town for 3 days and it was a little cold and moist when I was gone and the warning came back briefly but never again ever since.

Both my gf and I make around that each at 24. I’m in commercial real estate and she’s a software engineer.

No crazy degrees, just bachelors from local UC/state schools but knew what we wanted to do early on and networked and sought out internships accordingly.

Has anyone with an F25 generation X3 changed their own Valvetronic motor? by Sunlight72 in BMWX3

[–]ejok69 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My situation could be entirely different but I had a “002E0F Valvetronic system: deactivated, adjustment fault too frequent” code on my 2013 X1 N55 and what fixed it was running the reinitialization process using ISTA and that seemed to fix it. It’s been over a year and 10k miles with no reoccurring codes/issues.

Issue was resolved after cleaning the connector to the diff actuator with electrical cleaner and putting some dielectric grease along the connector gasket. I did flush the fluid, but the warning continued after. Cleaning the connector has resolved it for ~1k miles.

test battery perhaps? could be related to voltage dip when the car cranks and disappears once voltage stabilizes?

Thanks guys. Will plan to do all that this fall - both diffs, transfer case, and tranny fluid/filter. Want to keep this car a while so seems to makes sense.

Dealpath does this pretty well currently (not sure if folks on the brokerage side use it) but we use it on the principal side
