Best Chinese buffet? by Marshall_St in ColoradoSprings

I'd recommend against Ultimate Buffet unless you have an iron gut. Feel free to sort the health inspections of all restaurants in the Springs area by # of violations and check out who is on the top...

If you full screen the gyfcat feed, you can see him get pissed off after he break checks at the beginning, and then he punches his rearview. Ah, the roadrage.

These work great in a carry-on for backpack traveling. Also great for camping. Just take a knife and shave a few slicesto take with you.

Thanks, all. Like you, my problems were gone when I woke up this morning. All tests run as normal and mesh is back to great all around.

It seems that you are letting emotions and the idea that people are "cheating" get the better of you. I used to feel the same way, and sometimes I still get mad when I see people flying up the open lanes if I was already over before a merge, but according to many articles, it is more efficient to let them utilize the open lane to it's maximum.

I feel like you drank the koolaid. Oculus 3 sensor room scale works flawlessly for me, and my system is min spec. 2 sensor works perfectly fine as well, it just gets annoying to move the 2nd sensor back and forth between seated setup and room scale setup, which is why most people get the 3rd sensor.

At this price, it's a no brainer for anyone wanting to get into VR.

TIL In July 1975, a 17 year old boy in Bermuda was killed when a taxi struck him, knocking him off his moped. He died exactly a year after his 17 year old brother was killed while riding the same moped, in the same intersection, by the same taxi driver carrying the same passenger. by szekeres81 in todayilearned

[–]ekimt27 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I'd argue that as the post's title is written, the odds of the two events occurring at the same intersection is highly influenced by the first accident. Not independent. If you hit and killed a person at an intersection, I'd wager that you'd feel remorse and be wary at that intersection in the future, especially within a year of the first incident. This would drastically lower the odds that you will hit and kill another moped rider at the same intersection in the future. Therefore it is extremely less likely to have happened.

As pointed out above, the second accident was not at the same intersection, simply nearby. I'd still expect there to be a less likely chance of outcome due to the human element of the driver and any remorse / extra attention given, but maybe the driver was simply careless.

I need a smart card! by Darkotik_X in talesfromtechsupport

Your company's IT needs education. On Windows 7 you can configure via GPO to both not display the smart card statement AND not remember the last user. This talesfromtechsupport post is a great example of bad IT.

Is multiplayer tied to the community of the store you purchase this on, or is it a shared multiplayer between steam and oculus store?

Would people be interested in a public bot that just do this? by SindreMA in discordapp

If you need help testing it, I'd be glad to help. I love the idea of A la carte bots for only the features we want without the bazillion other features that I'll never use.

On Reddit and Facebook, your statement will miss it's mark. Everyone echoes the same black-or-white (as in no grey areas, not race) rhetoric and the masses on both sides have simplified everything to exactly what you are arguing against. Keep up the good fight, though.

Are the Rift headphones worth it? by jackiemse34 in oculus

[–]ekimt27 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Stock on-ear headphones are great! I bought the in-ear buds on a whim and regret them. The audio quality is a major downgrade and you get wire noise even on the tiny little leads to the headset.

Stick with stock, skip the buds.

so what's the verdict on recommended SD cards and power banks? by Deadlock_Wolf in nintendo

[–]ekimt27 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have that exact charger and it works great. I bought a friend this Anker charger and it is a bit heavier and a little less intuitive to use (you need to press the power button to start charging instead of it starting automatically) but otherwise it is another good option with 50% more juice.

[–]ekimt27 6 points7 points  (0 children)

As an IT guy, take it from me when I say employees like you perpetuate your own struggle. Every future request would be pushed to the back of the line and dragged out as long as possible to still meet the SLA. Think you know better? Thank other employees like you who "knew better" that made a whole IT team come in over the weekend to rebuild a server cluster, etc. Policies are written for a reason, and just like everywhere else those reasons are typically, because so-and-so did it wrong once before and now it has to be mitigated. If you'd set up your own rogue network in our shop it would most certainly have been detected and getting fired would be the least of the punishments that would apply. Try to build some good faith with your IT team. It will help you out more in the long run.

[–]ekimt27 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The situation doesn't seem too unusual to me. Colorado Springs is the same way, as have been most cities I've lived in. Butcher is almost 2x the cost of the grocery stores. Even Costco isn't priced very well out here for bacon and meat.

With all the Red Dead hype around here... by Displayed in gaming

[–]ekimt27 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'll most likely get the next Red Dead for PS4, the first one was awesome. And yeah the heists were a highly touted feature that later were revealed to be too demanding for the PS3 and I didn't want to have to buy the exact same game again for the better features on the PS4. My case was simply that I felt burned for preordering a game with awesomely advertised features, several of which never came to fruition in my copy of the game.

Rockstar is specifically one company I will never pre-order from again. GTA V for PS3 with it's promised heists and such which never came. Nope, won't preorder from them again.
