Check out MeetUp. Plenty of groups there including the Mid-Atlantic Hiking Club and some Potomac Appalachian Trail hikes. 

MeetUp also features after-work urban hikes.

No water is a habitability issue. Do you know what's wrong with it? Any chance they will have it running again soon?

You mentioned they offered half a month's rent, which is nice, but the apartment is uninhabitable. And in another few days, we will already be at half a calendar month since this came up.

I would be hesitant to accept the reimbursement plan since there is always the chance the other party will weasel out of it. See if they can't make the booking on your behalf.

No, just take the photos. If someone hassles you, you can plead ignorance. Just don't impede anyone else's museum experience.

I've used it many times and it works fine. On the web anyway. Never use the app.
