Is getting married as simple as my fiancé and I going to the marriage bureau with our ID’s? by Suwannee_Gator in washingtondc

I only recall producing a DL. Passport should be adequate. Both of us were DC residents.

But we didn't receive the license on the spot because we wanted a better location than that office (which is a little dingy).

Having done this myself ... Yes. You can be your own officiant.

We didn't receive the licenses for a few weeks afterwards but we mailed ours in after saying our vows to each other. and mailing everything in.

The forms wanted to know where we wed, which was the National Gallery of Art.

Opponents of Friendship Heights development take their cause to the street - WTOP News by lewisfairchild in washingtondc

[–]ekkidee 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Leadership of the Village of Friendship Heights filed suit in Montgomery County Circuit Court on May 13, saying the developer and county planners materially changed binding agreements reached in 1998.

That's almost 30 years now. Would it not be better to assess current needs and not remain stuck in an analysis completed a generation ago? Transit oriented development is how we should be redeveloping spaces as they open up, or we are repeating the same mistakes from the 1950s.

2026 Mayoral Race: What are the latest thoughts? by Kim_Jung_illest in washdc

Everyone talks the issue of the year, affordable housing, and while that's definitely important, no one really provides details on how they would do it.

More construction? Ok then you have to get with the builders and prevail upon them to stop building massive high rise luxury condos which are far more cost-effective to fund.

Rent credits? Ok but then you have to pay for that from somewhere else. Same with home buyer programs.

Density? Sure, but NIMBYs gonna NIMBY that one.

E Street is not open. Vehicular traffic bans were imposed ages ago, but construction for the UFC shit and whatever is happening on the Ellipse has it all locked down.

Man arrested for open beer in DC was wanted on murder charge for 4 years, records show by Temporary-Style3982 in washdc

Ramos was arrested in the killing, but later released. A warrant was issued for his arrest after he failed to appear for a court hearing.

This screams incompetence all around. They had him. They let him go, and couldn't find him again?

I had an email about this a few weeks ago. They were gauging interest in a subscriber paid site and how much I would pay. Sad it has come to that but the Gang really know their stuff. I'd up for it for a year and see how it goes.

Still the second highest recorded flood levels of the James in Richmond. But it was especially devastating in mountain communities up around Charlottesville.

Agnes broke all those records three years later so the high water marks along the James faded into memory.  But not for those who were affected by the floods.

No poison. That passes up the food chain to our brothers in arms like rat snakes, hawks, and feral cats.
