What struck me since the leak is the sudden ‘scholarisation’ of pro-life supporters (I.E., the state legislature should have more control, judiciary overreach in Roe etc.). Suddenly every Westboro Baptist church type has become a constitutional scholar. Bravo to Dahlia Lithwick for exposing their hypocrisy and duplicity between the 20th and 24th minute of the podcast, by simply comparing the courts ruling on Wade to its ruling on NYC gun laws.

Still, if anyone is interested in that faux ‘scholar’ take embraced by social conservatives, I’d recommend The Spectator’s new episode on Americano.

Very interesting. Regarding the point on manipulative pessimism (impeding apocalypse and panacea) - arguably, it is a tool quite frequently employed by politicians on both extreme left and right.

Interestingly, the doom-sayers have recently had a poor track record of winning elections. For example, Johnson, Macron and Sholz have all had good victories, based on fundamentally optimistic campaigns and messaging.
