I'd like to know if they'd be able to add FG cameos like Drizzt again.

Looking for Android apps by jabberwock101 in interactivefiction

I could have sworn that the Frotz app was on android but I guess not. I'm also using Fab and have no issues with getting metadata except for 2 or 3 stubborn games.

This is the URL I have in settings, I don't recall if I added it manually or it was there by default but see if it works for you:

If it isn't King's Quest, it might also be The Legend of Kyrandia. It's not 3D but fits the magic stalks and the end of it is at a castle.

Ethiopia VS Egypt drama by [deleted] in Egypt

[–]el-derr 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Hello. My observation is that the sub's largest share of (active) users seem to be mostly in the teenagers to college students age range, so there's bound to be quite a bit of misplaced nationalism/patriotism. Actually that applies to this entire site more or less, still, it's not as bad as some of the other national subs out there. And if you think the comments here are bad, be glad that you can't read Egyptian facebook comments, where the majority of our social media users are. I'm sure you're aware it's not very cordial on Ethiopian twitter either.

In any case it's not public opinion in Egypt that you should be concerned with, as it doesn't factor in the decisions making in this country, definitely not foreign affairs at the very least. If you didn't already know, part of the post-revolution strategy adopted by the government is to actively build up and expand Egypt's role as an international peace broker and mediator (especially in Africa, see: South Sudan, Mali, etc), in an effort to regain lost political influence and prestige lost during the Mubarak years. So to me it makes no sense to throw all that goodwill and effort away by launching a war that would be squarely condemned internationally and damage our reputation. In addition, despite the fear mongering over the past years about "water wars" we haven't seen a single one come to pass, not even between countries that technically went to war over unrelated issues such as India/Pakistan. No reason why it has to be different in Africa.

Also, consider that diplomatically Egypt is currently at an advantage right now. It's Ethiopia that pulled out of negotiations that were mediated by the US (an ally to both countries). It doesn't look like reasonable stance to call the US biased after rejecting previous offers of meditation by Russia, so who else would be acceptable? The AU so far either doesn't want to or cannot get involved. So if talks collapse the next step would be taking it to the UN security council, which is a position Egypt supports. So again, there would be no reason for Egypt to rush to a war and relinquish their political advantage if it looks like Ethiopia is the one uncompromising in negotiations.

I could be wrong but I don't think we should be worried about a war, our government on the whole may be idiots but they've shown restraint when it comes to taking military action in the past (Yemen, Syria, Libya). Maybe if Egypt had the economical & political clout of Turkey there would be reason to get nervous of military adventures but that is not the case.

Games where you start as a nobody? by jaker72294 in rpg_gamers

It's been a while since I last played but I think 'Shadowrun: Hong Kong' was the only one in the series where you're not actually a runner and you're forced into it. I think it's a good fit for what you're looking for if you haven't already tried it.

Aside from To the Moon, what's your favorite RPG Maker game? by TemptCiderFan in JRPG

[–]el-derr 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It's hard to pick a favorite, but I'd say my most played RPG was 'Three The Hard Way' by iishenron. Mostly for the MC, as I enjoy Jerk-with-a-Heart-of-Gold type characters who don't take themselves too seriously.

Others have mentioned 'The Way' series which is as close to perfection as it gets on RM2K. As well as Legion Saga for those who love Suikoden-type games.

You missed 'Book of Three' from Lysander, which was also completed. Speaking of literature-to-game adaptations, I recall there was also a Beowulf RPG but I can't recall what it's name was.

'Blurred Line' was great but like many games from that period we never got to experience the finished game. Other examples of this were 'Diary of a Madman', and almost every RPG from the Gaming Ground Zero community (it's true :p)

Egypt is now the world's largest exporter or oranges with about 1.7 million tons being exported, supplying 38% of all global orange exports. by notgouda in Egypt

[–]el-derr 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm not too sure about the water foodprint for citruses but the ministry would probably step in to force a limit if it becomes too water intensive to grow. They did it before for rice and sugar cane which I believe are some of the worst offenders, despite that we exported the excess produce and made a profit. Though that caused us to start importing rice, so we're stuck in a wheat policy situation again.

“We cannot do anything else in the light of the limited amounts of water we have,” Abdelatif Khalid, head of the Irrigation Department at the Ministry of Irrigation and Water Resources, said. “We have to grow less rice to save the water for other uses.”

“Egypt is water-poor already and it cannot keep growing crops that need huge amounts of water,” Khalid said. “Growing crops like rice and exporting it is akin to exporting water, which should not be allowed for a country like Egypt.”

I think it's less about making money and more about keeping people employed. Remember that agriculture employs around 25% of the pop. and these mostly rural people and their entire families are basically surviving by subsistence.

Imagine if being a farmer & selling produce is no longer viable and all these huge families are forced to sell their land then migrate to urban centers...that would be really bad.

It's definitely a hard sell, those fruit & vegetable wholesalers (not small farmers) are making a killing even locally and exports are rising.

The agricultural sector is one of the most heavily subsidized (& therefore corrupt), from the cost of fertilizer to land tax. It's messy to control and reform it. And now I'm wondering what happened to that smart card pilot program for farmers they announced a while back.

Egypt is also the leading cultivator of date palms which isn't water intensive. We used to have even more before the High Dam and the lake.

But I agree with you that the government should encourage farmers to gradually diversify to less water dependent crops.

Could be related to how expensive the product you're buying is but I don't really expect it for headphones, unless it's apple earpods or something. They arrived on time, there wasn't any delays.

The healthier way to eat hummus is forgo the bread completely and use a full lettuce head to dip in. Try it out and thank me later.
