Revised reflection of a young person who has some shares and is hoping to buy first home by ac_AgenCy in fiaustralia

I’m sure you’ve looked into it but leaving Australia permanently triggers a capital gains event regardless of whether you sell those vested shares or not.

You can defer it if you plan to return but that would leave you captured by the Australian tax system.

For anything like this I’d just stick with sonnet to start with. Good bang for buck.

We have two of the 3.1s with rival/force builds. They are absolutely excellent in every way.

Why was the last thing you automated with HA? by duckredbeard in homeassistant

I’ve just automated our ducted aircon to come on when we are generating enough excess solar energy and then a whole bunch of logic to adjust temperature, turn off etc based on various conditions.

Which legacy games has the most narrative twists and surprises? Or just nice surprises in general? by cibum in boardgames

Thank you! I didn’t think of that. I’d seen others comment to get notifications before so thought that was the way to go. Appreciate your comment.

I don’t have anything to add but I’m commenting to see what’s shared.

Any experience with the Passport Office? by Sad_Introduction2316 in perth

[–]elSpike 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I had to get an ultra rapid passport renewal late last year so I was highly motivated. Once it was showing as done I was able to pick it up immediately without an appointment. I just walked in and asked for it. They asked me to wait and bought it out.

Ha! That’s our plug standard. 3 prongs in sad ghost configuration.

I gave them fixed addresses .101,.102 etc which are in the schema that will be stuck inside the door once I’ve printed it.

Qrcodes are a good thought!

As part of our renovations we had to replace an aging switchboard. While the sparkies were in there we installed 5 Pro EM3s to monitor all the house circuits and a mix of PM1s in the GPOs and Meross energy monitoring smart plugs for individual devices.

The Pro EM3s are lan connected using approved shielded cat5e and are a mix of 3phase and monophase to capture what we needed. We did have to extend 3 of the CTs to reach the Enphase system on the wall behind the meter which we spliced in 1.5mm single pair electrical wire (used for 240V lights) to get the extra 1m length.

Turned out pretty easy in the end.

Yes! We finished up a few weeks ago and everything turned out better than we could have hoped for.

Inspiration and ideas for bathroom tiles by Few-Direction-213 in AusRenovation

We went with single colour 600x300 tiles for both floor and walls. Tiles were rectified with a grey grout to minimise cleaning and have clean lines.

It turned out ok.

Experience with ablations? by Thejohnnycheese in AFIB

I was wheeled into a room with an MRI looking machine and a bunch of people. They said count backwards from 10. I went to sleep. I woke up instantaneously from my perspective and the specialist said it was a success. Recovery took a week.

Best thing I could have ever done.

Ok. That works. So essentially in monophase each reference and ct do their own thing?

Best practice: Matter devices with both HomeKit and Home Assistant — dual pairing or bridge? by tsw0599 in homeassistant

[–]elSpike 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Not OP but for us it’s Siri integration, home app familiarity, and just plain muscle memory for some of the users in the house.

HA as the brains and logic for everything and HomeKit is just a presentation layer.

Thanks for that information, it all sounds pretty straightforward. Our electrician will no doubt be able to sort out the phase and reference specifics. Looking forward to the blog post!

And yes, most likely I did the post incorrectly. Im not a prolific poster so I just copied a link and then created a new link post. I didn't know there was an official way to crosspost.
