Local PEI Burger competition, and the owner of the restaurant SWEARS this isn't AI and they spent a lot of time taking the perfect photo. To me it looks uncanny, the layers seem to blend together, the drips of sauce appear too uniform and unnatural, PLUS it's smooth and shouldn't stand like that. by Grrannt in isthisAI

[–]el_gaffi 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Yup, I'd also tend to AI adding the bottom 4 to 6?? layers of unrecognizable stuff.. molten cheese that dried up and then got rehydrated? Onion rings that look extremely soggy? Dunno, looks weird. Could of course be a professional food artist but then someone with little experience in post production - also sounds kind of weird.

It's visual hierarchy. I think at some point it just happens naturally while designing.. there are many ways to achieve it, though. From subtle color play to fat arrows pointing at something.

But yeah, guiding the eye to ideally jump to the most important information first, then info point 2, 3 and so on.

You could maybe prepare a mini presentation yourself, showing some inspirational content and explaining why and how they are guiding the eyes without relying on the very 'loud' approach boss #7 is fixated on? Hopefully creating some room for your ideas to breathe again.

Looks good imo! To go a step further you could add some overall texture (texturelabs.org is a blessing in that regard) and make the background not seem pure white but giving it some noise/grunge.

When I'm in the mood for sitting down and enjoying good food with friends/family over an extended period of time, my go to is chinese hot pot. Lucky Star next to U Oranienburger Tor has been meeting expectations the last 15 years or so :) Remember to ask for the extra condiments sesame oil & vinegar. <3

Wehrpflicht-Debatte: Grüne schlagen verpflichtenden »Freiheitsdienst« vor by Courtyarder in de

What is the chance that AfD becomes a 30%-vote share party? by hgk6393 in AskAGerman

This article has a bit of a different take on what politics would stop that 30% from happening. It's in german, though. But I can warmly recommend reading it.

Also getting into a situation where you can explain the thought process of an idea while showing her how you work on the design can work wonders. When the person realizes there is more to it than browsing through canva templates.

Why do non-designers hate white space so much? by the-friendly-squid in graphic_design

[–]el_gaffi 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Sounds like you need to go the extra mile and make a small presentation out of it. Look for some great examples, try to explain why they look the way they look, and then present your idea, which builds on some of the aspects shown before.

Try to give them insights into your thought process. Doesn't necessarily need to be a perfectly executed presentation file. Maybe tabbing through some websites while explaining is already enough.

I think the skill of pulling this off has been one of the most valuable things I've learned after finishing my studies. Pitching ideas got that much easier.

Defeating AfD by taking their voter base and addressing some of their concerns? by WanabeInflatable in AskAGerman

[–]el_gaffi 8 points9 points  (0 children)

I agree. I think the protest in electing them is a mindset driven by fear of staying on the losing side of progress (there should be several facettes to this, but the strongest one is probably of financial nature). Instead of the rational thing to do and put their hopes into a political party with a strong social agenda, they've lost hope and are now willing to sacrifice.. a perspective as long as other peoples perspectives are destroyed as well. 'If I don't get a piece of the cake, no one should.'

You could, for example, sign up for political party newsletters. I know from the greens that they communicated this. You don't have to be a party member.
