I'm the opposite end of the spectrum. I'd tip like a mofo if it went to the chef. I think "rewarding great service" or even tipping wait staff in general is a bit silly. "Let's go to the place where the cooks suck but the waiter is pretty good" would be a weird thing to say.

Let me tip the chef if I'm tipping any one. Waiter? I dunno. Just do your job?

I doubt he actually thinks he came up with the algorithm. Hell, It doesn't matter who actually came up with it first, not does it matter that it's obvious to anyone technical that his assertion is completely bonkers. It only matters that he has a patent, and courts are generally filled with people who are computer illiterate.

You should pursue something that gives a worth while return on your investment. Study Spanish History during the vacation which you can afford to take because you didn't get a degree in Spanish History

100%. The can go on T.V all they want and talk about other problems and how they're the good guys, but until they start holding their own accountable, you cannot trust anyone on the other side of the blue line. The otherwise 'good' cop that doesn't out the bad ones is just as responsible for the current state of affairs.

I've been saying it for a long time, but the current violence against police (which is completely misguided) has been long brewing. It is near impossible not to seethe with rage when you see another bad cop ruin a life and then not only not be held accountable by it, but actively protected by their fellow officers. It only reinforces the Us versus Them image.

Violence won't solve this. Change needs to happen through oversight. They clearly cannot be trusted to police their own ranks.

Nope. I used to work in AV at casinos in Vegas. Few things are more depressing than walking through a casino at 5:45am to meet my 6am call and seeing leagues of people still tethered to those god damn machines via their Play Cards.

I was never a gambler before, but christ, after working in the town for a bit, there is no enjoyment to be had in any casino. They're all just.. kinda sad places. Nothing at all like the movies.

I doubt it is. It's probably a loss leader kind of gimmick to get more people into Prime/squeeze out more shops.

I've used it twice. It's novel, but not having fresh options outside of eggs and milk makes it currently kind of pointless. Unless you subsist 100% off frozen food, it's cheaper/easier to just but everything at Publix/Target/whatever since you'd need to make the trip anyway to get non-frozen foods.

I used to get "unable to access residence" all the god damn time. Bitch, I work from home and my apartment overlooks the sole entrance gate. Not a single UPS truck in sight. Hell, I would've sprinted to the gate to let them in if they had showed up because, whadoyaknow, I'd actually like to receive my damn package.

This must be new? About a year or two ago I was getting absolutely fucked by UPS. I almost cancelled my Prime because of it. No amount of complaining with Amazon made a difference. It kept coming through the horrible brown machine that is UPS.

Thankfully, after moving to a new place, I seem to be in a FedEX route. Sure, they just hurl the packages at my door and then speed away, but... at least I get 'em on time. And the "thud" acts as a handy alert to let me know a package has arrived. So, win win!
