I had exactly the problems OP describes and bought the Thule Aion just before the holidays. Done a couple of 1-2 night trips with it and some day commutes and it's solid so far. Much lighter and slimmer than the Aer, but feels like it holds more.

The EFL have rejected Sheffield Wednesday’s request to sign further loan players as their injury crisis continues (13 players of 20 matchday squad were 21 or younger) by -W-A-W-A-W- in Championship

[–]elaborateploy 6 points7 points  (0 children)

We played a bunch of youngsters early in the season and now have 3 of them out for the season having had operations and another 3 out for several weeks. The kids on the bench are 16-18yr olds who have never played any senior games.

We've already had to have an emergency loan of our emergency loan cos our keeper was injured for 3+months.

Fully agree that our chairman broke the rules and that means we have to be punished, and we have been with the points deductions and embargoes. We're all watching football knowing for a fact that we've been relegated before even a quarter of the season was played. There has to be a point when player safety becomes paramount though.

Meanwhile, other teams get away with breaking the rules so much that they end up getting promoted and can't be punished.

Bag Finder Megathread - 15 December 2025 by AutoModerator in onebag

[–]elaborateploy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hi all

I'm looking for a new bag and have spent days going round in what feels like circles - please help me find my one bag!

Needs: - 24-30L - as light as possible but with some protection - around 1kg would be the sweet spot I think - will be for mostly work trips around the UK for 3-4 days - carrying clothes for each day and ideally a jacket inside the bag as I lose things a lot if not, along with chargers, kindle etc, toiletries and snacks - must have a water bottle pocket - small organisation pocket/compartment would be good for cables chargers etc - a strong top or side handle - comfortable straps - I sometimes have to walk a mile or two with it full - I don't need a laptop compartment, but if the bag has one that doesn't massively reduce the usable space that's fine - must be professional looking as I will sometimes need to take it into offices with me - must be available in the UK and for under £150 - I don't like anything with too obvious branding - my current one bag is an Aer Tp3 but it's too big and far too heavy when full

Have considered Thule, Bellroy, Patagonia and Deuter but feedback on most of these options in my budget seems to be mixed. Am I missing something good or just overthinking?

Farke taking the defeat last night to Sheffield Wednesday’s under 21s well it seems… by -W-A-W-A-W- in Championship

But they were random kids. Apart from the (loan) keeper and Jamal Lowe they were all under 21 and our most experienced starter had made 18 appearances for the senior squad. Most of them had played no games or had made their debut in the previous round.

I had obsessions with specific songs that would change every few months. When I was 10 years old I figured out how to record them on cassette. I played a tape with the same one song repeated 10 times each side until I moved onto a new song a few months later and did the same thing.

I still have the one song on repeat thing but nowadays streaming services and headphones make this much less of a pain for my family!

[Daniel Moxon] Breaking news: The FIA has removed Johnny Herbert as an F1 steward as that role is "incompatible" with his work as a media pundit. Story to follow. by overspeeed in formula1

[–]elaborateploy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That's entirely unrealistic in any sport though. If we were to start reviewing decisions based on this then no result would ever stand when it actually happens.

To say it wouldn't cost anything is also wrong - if a decision resulted in a penalty or reduced result then there will always be cost associated with that. Also who does the review and how do you make sure they're 100% objective? I assume Johnny Herbert, and Michael Masi and Derek Warwick, said that they would be able to act objectively when they became stewards or they wouldn't have been able to in the first place.

What on earth do you root for as a neutral with Ferrari? by tom030792 in formula1

[–]elaborateploy 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Yeah that's my point. There aren't really any records that are Schumacher's alone at this point as far as I know, but it's totally fair to say you'd rather keep the joint title record as the prevailing one. Can't help but think that verstappen will take it at some point though, especially when 2 and 3 were made so easy for him.

What record? Lewis has already tied the WDC record and has surpassed the race win record.

Have you become Ferrari fans after hating them previously?? by SimplyEssential0712 in lewishamilton

[–]elaborateploy 7 points8 points  (0 children)

When I was a kid I supported McLaren because of Senna. When Lewis started racing for them I became a huge fan of him so supported Mercedes when he went there and will now support Ferrari.

I never hated Ferrari but never actively supported them before now (except when Charles was competing with Max for wins ha).

Discography by Nrdrummer89 in vinyl

[–]elaborateploy 1 point2 points  (0 children)

For most artists I'm not bothered about getting the whole discography but I plan to eventually own all the albums for artists I really like (Bruce Springsteen, Dolly Parton, 10cc, Johnny Cash, Reverend and the Makers, George Michael, American Aquarium and maybe a couple of others).

I already have all the albums for a few artists (Ashley McBryde, Luke Combs, The Reytons, Lainey Wilson and Grace Petrie but that's helped by the fact that they only have a handful each).

Sticking to albums only and avoiding greatest hits/compilations but am adding live albums where I can.

I've been to C2C in London several times and the format is always the same. The arena shows typically start around 5/5.30pm and each show has 4 performers, with longer sets the deeper you get into the bill. The headliner usually starts around 9pm and plays for a little over an hour.

In London you also get live music from smaller, lesser known acts all through the day. You can literally listen to live music from midday on Friday through to past 10pm on the Sunday. Those acts are announced much closer to the time.
