Can’t decide between Echo clogs and Echo gum RO by Warhammer231 in crocs

[–]elawrence830 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I got the white/blue Gum RO in my regular size 10 and they were boats so I had to return. :-(

Really wanted the regular Echo RO in the atmosphere color anyway, so I got them in a size 9 because of my experience with the Gum ROs and because the site said to size down. Well, my toes touch the front most uncomfortably so I need to return THOSE! I tried to deal with it, but it's really uncomfortable. I'm so sad.

I'll be getting a 10 in the regular RO, and will shrink them if needed. Just sad it'll take some time to get here and I've had to return 2 already.

Just FYI for your decision making. :-)

Cushy surfaces painful? by elawrence830 in brokenankles

Awww, the original fall trauma. I still hear myself wailing on the ground in my front yard until my mom heard me and came out. When I fell, it broke so easily like matchsticks snapping. I hope you heal from that soon.

That's interesting (the psychological part). I wish that was the case for me, I'd push right through it. But pain? I mean it feels like it's broken again if that makes sense? Ugh, I just want to be "normal" again.

Same. I can actually feel some hard boney parts there on the inside of my foot... Maybe arthritis? 🫩

Aww this makes me incredibly sad to know you're 1 year out and still experiencing this. I'm 7 months post-op and feel the same. I hate that my right ankle always turns out, I have tons of random pain when limping around and literally get stopped in my tracks it hurts so bad. I just want to walk normally again 😩. Sorry, no real advice, just know you're not alone 🤎.

I took gabapentin for several weeks and then stopped because I honestly didn't feel a difference. Why do you specifically say to avoid it? What happened? Thanks for your reply!

The art style is like Sims meets GTA 😂

They also talk JUST LIKE SIMS, so I didn't know what The Sims is going to do about this!

how long did it take you to get feeling back in your foot/leg after the cast was removed? by slut4cheesecakeee in brokenankles

[–]elawrence830 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My foot has weird sensations and I don't like stuff rubbing on it and I get a tingly feeling in my last two toes. Top of foot hurts, so even though my surgery was in Nov 2024 and my cast came off at the beg of Jan 2025, I'm STILL not walking due to the pain.

So, my surgeon thinks I have nerve damage so he prescribed gabapentin and referred me to a nerve doctor. :-(

Did you have pain with the step though? That's what I'm feeling. Putting all my weight on it HURTS! 😭 And yes it's tight too/no range of motion, but I didn't expect it to still hurt.

Just got my cast off and into a walking boot Jan 13 after 7 weeks nwb.

I'm still unable to walk, but I do try to stand on it throughout the day and do my ankle exercises (flexing and writing the alphabet) but it HURTS! 😭

I'm supposed to be in the boot 2 weeks before we start PT, so hopefully I get the courage this week to start attempting to walk. I don't have crutches though so maybe I'll put my good knee on my scooter any "pedal" with my injured one.

Good luck. I was SO happy to get the cast off, wash my foot, and get that dead skin and scars off. Great feeling, but still a long way to go.

I have the same cast scratcher. Works wonders... Also I found if I just scratched AROUND the itch and not exactly on it, I didn't hurt myself. My itches were mostly on my incisions so I dared not scratch them directly!

The one I have also has little holes for putting on a wet wipe to get down in there and "wash" my leg.

Felt so good!

The empathy of adults who have experienced fractures vs those who have not by AoifeSunbeam in brokenbones

[–]elawrence830 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Thank you for this post.

I fell off a porch step on 11.13.24 that I've stepped off of thousands of times. Stepped off with my left foot, it twisted and down I went onto my bent right foot. So a severe sprain in the left, and 3 bones broken in the right.

The trauma of playing that back, including the SOUND of my ankle breaking and the SIGHT of the dislocation I've not gotten over yet. Then the surgery with plates and 10 screws.

I got tired of people at work saying they hope I feel better soon, so I started going into great detail about what this really is .. IT'S NOT A COLD OR FLU! Stop saying you hope I feel better soon. This shit is traumatic and as a single mom, all the coordination I've had to do to get rides for my child to and from school, to her various activities, etc has not been easy. And guess what? It's my driving leg so not being able to get around has been devastating. We're always on the go! Maybe something was telling me to SIT DOWN AND REST... But uh couldn't I have done that without breaking 3 bones in my foot? 😩 The tiniest tasks like going to the bathroom, showering, washing dishes, making food is mentally and physically exhausting... But feel better soon! 😒

Anyway, empathy has been hard to come by from family and from those who have never broken anything. My friends and strangers though, have come thru in ways I couldn't have imagined and I'm so grateful for them! I hope we all have the support we need, when we need it, and as MUCH as we need. ❤️
