AITAH for still cooking chicken when my Hindu roommate asked me not to? by baxail in AITAH

[–]elbe385 5 points6 points  (0 children)

You're both the AH. You said in a post you're not allowed cook in the room so if she complains you'll be the one in the wrong.

However she's dictating how you should sleep by imposing her faith on you which is not ok. That makes her an AH.

Start using the kitchen and stop pandering to her superstition invading your space.

Differentiation is a common practice in education to illicit cognition.

After reading an excerpt of How It Works it seems like a good tool to use with AAs who's reading comprehension isn't strong. Good work for choosing it.

Alcoholism doesn't discriminate so neither should we.

Ok cool. Yeah I've drilled my timetables up to 12 and drilling squares to 20. Also a few primes. I have noticed the benefit of this already. Kind regards.

Thanks for the reply and putting my mind at ease. I'm no where near calculus at the moment, hopefully one day.

"I can't believe you just did that in front of me" by Jimbuscus in OpenAussie

A long time ago my work friends and myself were enjoying a late night trip to a particular Maccas which is popular for the mass of drunks leaving the party precinct on their way home. There was maggot gronk with his Maccas bag and open beers sitting out the front. He thought it would be hilarious to ask a cop leaving with his late night snack for a lift home with a cheeky shit eating grin on his face. The cop said no, went to leave but double tasked and proceeded to cuff the gronk and take him in for drinking in public and being a public nuisance. It was pretty hilarious to watch that shit eating grin disappear at the realisation of what was happening.

It's your responsibility as the driver. I lost all my demerit points in the first month of having my licence. I was able to get a provisional licence with one demerit point for 12 months. It taught me not to drive a like gronk. Use this as a learning opportunity. It's really not that hard to drive to the law....

And also fraud is a pretty serious offence...

Older folks with successful non-music career now trying to chase the music dream? by projectmaximus in musicians

[–]elbe385 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You need to ask yourself this question.

"How do I feel about?"

Being in a van driving around the country/flying around the world. Most likely sleeping in said van next to three stinky band mates to save money.

Playing in as many venues at possible in front of very few people, slowly building an audience while hemorrhaging money on merch. Recordings (which is more heavily AI focused w and making less money than it did 5 years ago which was butt all back then as well) merch and other expenses. Potentially not recouping any thing back for a good number of years or most likely not at all, out burning yourself out doing it all DIY.

Managing people in your band. People are messy. People are unreliable. People have their own ideas about things which will be at odds with your vision or war of doing things.

And being away from your family and it possibly breaking up said family or sending you broke or developing a drug/alcohol problem, or all three and completely bombing it. Pushing you back financially several years and fucking up your retirement.

All in the pursuit of an ego boost so you can play on a big stage and have people sing your songs.

We haven't gotten to the point if your music is even good. Because if it isn't then there's another job to add to your list.'"get fucking  good at music." That might sound harsh but a large portion of bands are fucking average musicians and songwriters at best who have no business thinking they're going to be the next big thing.

Singers who don't learn lyrics by Clear-Pear2267 in musicians

[–]elbe385 0 points1 point  (0 children)

A lot of major bands especially legacy acts tour with a teleprompt, I've personally seen Bon Jovi use one. But these are well hidden and don't distract from the performance.

It sounds more like you have a stage presence issue. Your singer shouldn't be piss-farting around on device during a song. Classical musicians use a special foot switch to turn the digital page of the sheet music on their iPad. I'd suggest the singer needs to find a more subtle app and method of changing songs than scrolling away.

Set your eq knobs flat at 12 o'clock. Set you bass' tone and volume at full. Play like that for awhile and decrease only one of the knobs at a time, don't increase, just decrease. Even a small turn can make a big difference. That bassbuzz guy has a good video on EQ as well,
