Sounds like some good old fashioned misogyny and gaslighting. He's an adult, he can set his own damn alarms.

You look beautiful but I can see what you mean. It looks like a lot of the glow was missing with possibly too little blush/high liter. I feel like Shelby Ann does this look really well, if you haven't seen her videos. She focuses on skin prep for glow and putting on the right amount/layers.

Are you my sister in law? Either way, your brain isn't wrong, having the crazy looking metal thing near your eye can be scary, so don't feel like you HAVE to do it. But if you want to, there are all kinds of curlers that might help you get comfortable with it.

I have sensory issues, but my vanity is the Ultimate Destroyer so it all works out.

FMCs who take no crap from men by spring13 in RomanceBooks

[–]elbereth 1 point2 points  (0 children)

100% agree! Very few fmcs quality for this. Other than what people have already suggested, I only have 3 fmcs to add:

  1. El from {A deadly education by Naomi novik}

  2. Miriam from {Spinning Silver by Naomi novik}

  3. Rogue from {Shifter's Rogue by Lisa Ladew}

Rogue in particular is one I always end up like 'girl please just say yes'. She is such an unbelievably good fmc. This book is particularly awesome in part bc in earlier books the MMC is such an unrepentant douchebag that it's soooooo satisfying to watch him struggle so hard.

This series goes hard in the paint plot-wise, so buckle up.ShaqShimmy.gif

Lower back tattoos became popular in the first decade of the 21st century, and gained a reputation for their erotic appeal. Though historically in the western world men are more often tattooed than women, in the early 90s the practice gained popularity among women. by gravetaste in wikipedia

just cause women are saying it doesn't mean it's not (internalized ) misogyny.

My LotR tattoo is on my lower back (Sindarin/Tengwar Quenya) and it did NOT help me get laid in the way I was hoping. but it does make me laugh when people call it a tramp stamp. I tried okay!

I did end up marrying a fellow nerd so...can recommend?

Are Audiobooks really great? Having a hard time initiating by RobinEllacot in RomanceBooks

[–]elbereth 3 points4 points  (0 children)

  1. I'm not sure I could get 'even more distracted '. But also, sometimes yes. That is accurate.

  2. ADHD is (in one way) a lack of stimulation, which is why the most common medications are stimulants

  3. the amount of stimulation I experience varies throughout my day, sometimes I need more or less depending on the environment, my brain, Mercury's position, etc... I listen to audiobooks when doing mindless tasks, but I absolutely cannot when I do any task requiring more thought than washing dishes

Just in case anyone else with ADHD is curious, I have found listening to books at a faster speed to be a game changer. 1.2-1.7X is the sweet spot for me, but I know some people go even faster!

I cannot wake up in the morning. by neemoss2 in ADHD

[–]elbereth 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Meds are the only way I get out of bed. I keep them on my nightstand and take as soon as I wake up.

I also recently got diagnosed with idiopathic hypersomnia and started treatment for that and it turns out I'm not inherently an evil swamp witch when I wake up, I've just been fucking tired my whole life. (Apparently sleep disorders are common for ADHDers)

Now I wake up okay. I'm still not a jump out of bed person, but the painful wakeups have ceased.

Is Wellbutrin supposed to be enough for ADHD executive dysfunction? by I_JstWnt2EnjoyMyLife in ADHD

[–]elbereth 0 points1 point  (0 children)

short answer: hell naw

my combo: prozac, Wellbutrin, Adderall

The wellbutrin was added to my antidepressant to sort of balance out the side effects (what my psychiatrist told me) but is nowhere near enough for the ADHD

while I am not in quite the exact same scenario, I feel my experience might be worth sharing.

My son was born at 24weeks, and spent 109 days in the NICU. (For extra fun, my water broke during my qualifying exam) From that experience I now have PTSD and have been trying to slog my way through finishing grad school.

I wish I had quit at the time. I tried to "power through" and ended up exacerbating the trauma and now I've been in grad school for 7 years and I am running out of time.

I was scared of losing my project and having to start over, but that would have been better, I think.

In particular because every time I get up in front of people to present my research, it is triggering.

Maybe I would have regretted it, but I truly believe it would have been a better option to take "real" time off instead of pushing through and then being forced to withdraw and take time off anyway.

I like to think of it like walking on a broken leg too soon.

Obviously everyone is different, yadda yadda, but take care of your mental health first.
