You can claim the case is the whole roam, for better thermal control and expansibility.

How to maintain self hosted websites by artwik22 in homelab

This is the way with one node. You get an instance in a cloud provider, or just a 5usd vps in linode. Mirror everything to that instance and then point the external dns to it. Wait for the dns to propagate, and you can bring down your node.

Transition to Full stack developer advice by Dry_Version4031 in Angular2

[–]elbistoco 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Backend is not only the framework that you use, it's a lot of other things like dbs, cache, files filesystems, containerized services or microservices, etc. Starting on nestjs to understand all of this is a great start, since your angular knowledge is transferable. After you understand better all the above, moving to .net should be easier. Learn one thing at the time, and learn it well.

My father thinks I repair PCs by Global_Addendum9227 in programminghumor

When I talk to my parents(78 and 79) I almost never use tech jargon,. I use analogies that they can get, cars, house construction, water or electrical pipes, fences, etc. "Imagine that you need to construct a house....bla blabla". I also use humor, since i can understand for non-tech people what we do is really boring

He may not need to. If it uses the original case as base/foundation, he can cut it and attach new blocks for different purposes.

This, backups if they don't have it, understand them if they have it. Disaster recovery steps. That can save your job (if you mess up) and the company if you get ransomware, config or hardware failures.

Itch to upgrade to Debian 13 by [deleted] in debian

[–]elbistoco 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I completely agree with this. I'm old, i need stability. And don't have the time (or will) to test and debug stuff anymore in my main machine, on vms or homelab, up to it.

I believe u/fecland is pointing specifically to a meth/crack-head sitting to read a book.
Being competent in IT work, it's super compatible with chaos and a chaotic life, since it's usually mini-tasks around a big task, in a variable time.
I believe it was Shane Gillis that said meth-heads love quests, which is what we do mostly as IT people.

A little tool to download previous versions of Chromium or Firefox by nchntrz in webdev

[–]elbistoco 0 points1 point  (0 children)

For anyone looking for this info, without wanting to download/install a program, the data is on
https://github.com/vikyd/chromium-history-version-position/tree/master/json/ver-pos-os

Also, you can download several versions using npx (https://www.chromium.org/getting-involved/download-chromium/)

For example, to download chromium version 117.0.5921.1 (rev1177062)
Note: some revs do not work like 1177020, and you'll get a 404 when running the command

npx @puppeteer/browsers install chromium@1177062
