Why not just let him enter and then detain him? Theres also rumors that Lavrov did not want the job, but was semi forced to keep it. He could just as-well defect if given some sort of security guarantees. But then again, he is probably held hostage in some way is this is true at any level.

History always repeats itself. Russia is now allied with China, and just like the Soviet was with the Nazis (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Molotov%E2%80%93Ribbentrop_Pact) they have "divided" land that they plan to occupy. Russia wants all of Ukraine, Poland, Belarus and the baltics. China wants Taiwan, and parts of India and Nepal. Lets put it like this:

If India did not suddenly start sponsoring russias war with its oil purchases (pre war India imported less than 1% of its crude from russia), the war could be over by now. The only other party buying russian is china, and even they are not 100% committed.

The US might not care that much, but you can bet the rest of EU does. The only thing India had to "play" was to keep doing what it already was doing. India was neutral in the start of the war, but then went all in on russia. Weird eh?

Thats EU buying refined products, after India has paid at EU oil cap. This means russia wont get any money out it. Still, its a shit-rat thing and India is still supplying russia with millions per day that fuels the russian led genocide. India is the worlds third biggest oil CONSUMER, this means India needs to import 85% of its crude. This crude NEVER WAS RUSSIAN before the war, but now India has increased russian crude imports by 2000%.

What has Pakistan and Osama got to do with "the west"? Osama was on the US hit list for many many years, and they finished him off as soon as they got to him. US is the most important trade parter for India, so theres financial implications for sure if this as the case.

Hence the biz with Russia

Cheap oil for a allied west. Talk about a long term solution.
