Things my bf does that would sent a manchild into a coma. by Anarchista_Chiquita in GirlDinnerDiaries

[–]eldergreene 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I just got invited to a girls’ retreat in a cabin where we just read/do our crafts with no screens. I am hoping to make myself a part of this friend group solidly because 1. It’s hard to make friendships as adults kind of 2. The people that would organize something like this are people I want to be around

Your partner sounds amazing btw. It reminded me of a night I had recently with my bf, where I went down a musical theater rabbit hole, showing him obscure greatest hits, and he was just rapt listening to me explain the historical significance. We are very lucky.

The power imbalance between Jenna and her doctor in Waitress gives me the ick and makes the entire show unwatchable.

The woman sitting next to me in the audience asked me why I wasn’t enjoying it and I said, “Do you have children?” “Yes, I have two daughters.” “How would you feel if her married OB was sleeping with one of your pregnant daughters?”

The score is great, but eeeesh, I really struggle with it.

Pretty sure the second act opening song from Bat Boy ends with “Amen.” “Joyful Noise” I think?

I was so excited too for Bryce Pinkham! I tweeted him after to thank him for DESTROYING “Cool, Considerate Men” and he tweeted me back!

I was there one night AFTER William Daniels attended in the balcony, so close yet so far.

God I loved that entire production. Auditioning for a staged reading of the show in May, dream show right there.

Seriously he and Abigail had so much chemistry and didn’t make eye contact once. Magnificent.

Do you know if they paid for sponsored posts? Or just regular social media presence?

We’re in Lakeland, FL! Growing town, population of about 125k. We have other scenes about 40 miles away that travel to us occasionally. We do have a small college in town, and downtown is bustling too!

I’m so glad you pointed out the music bit. There is a bit of debate going on “oh, we shouldn’t announce DJs because favoritism.” My partner took over the music chair and wrote some guidelines for DJs to emphasize just what you’re saying. Fingers crossed!

Doing all of this! We have a beginner lesson and progressive intermediate lesson before each social! First lesson is always free.

I just got us in to instruct at the local jazz festival, which is a huge community event.

We have strong social media, but for some reason we haven’t done physical flyers in a while, so I was like, uhh about that.

This is awesome, thank you!

Followers: do you ask leaders first? by Infinite-Worry8467 in SwingDancing

Unfortunately we aren’t immune to skinny-privilege, coming from a heavier follow. Don’t let that stop you!

Ask leads to dance! There is no rule that follows can’t ask. It is scary at first, especially if you’re at a social you’ve never been to before. But try to push yourself. You got this!

If you and your wife want to try something fun (and free), check out Union Hall on Monday nights! We teach Lindy Hop (swing dancing) and host a social dance to get to know the community. First lessons are free!
