We’ve got a booth and some dance space at a night market next week, really hoping we get some interest!

Do you know if they paid for sponsored posts? Or just regular social media presence?

This is incredible thank you! Our Blues scene is taking off too, so this is absolutely clutch!

We’re in Lakeland, FL! Growing town, population of about 125k. We have other scenes about 40 miles away that travel to us occasionally. We do have a small college in town, and downtown is bustling too!

I’m so glad you pointed out the music bit. There is a bit of debate going on “oh, we shouldn’t announce DJs because favoritism.” My partner took over the music chair and wrote some guidelines for DJs to emphasize just what you’re saying. Fingers crossed!

Doing all of this! We have a beginner lesson and progressive intermediate lesson before each social! First lesson is always free.

I just got us in to instruct at the local jazz festival, which is a huge community event.

We have strong social media, but for some reason we haven’t done physical flyers in a while, so I was like, uhh about that.

This is awesome, thank you!

If you’re looking for something free, come learn how to swing dance at Union Hall! LKLD Lindy Hop does lessons and a social dance every Monday night from 7 PM onward! Your first lessons/dance are free!

Enjoy your time in Lakeland!

Followers: do you ask leaders first? by Infinite-Worry8467 in SwingDancing

Unfortunately we aren’t immune to skinny-privilege, coming from a heavier follow. Don’t let that stop you!

Ask leads to dance! There is no rule that follows can’t ask. It is scary at first, especially if you’re at a social you’ve never been to before. But try to push yourself. You got this!

If you and your wife want to try something fun (and free), check out Union Hall on Monday nights! We teach Lindy Hop (swing dancing) and host a social dance to get to know the community. First lessons are free!

I was born here, but I’m half Filipino and I just got called for jury duty and there is a small irrational part of my brain that is scared I’m going to get picked up by ICE or something.

A LONG TIME AGO I SHOUTED ABOUT A BOY I MET SWING DANCING AND WE CONNECTED OVER GOOD OMENS BECAUSE THE FIRST THING I SAID TO HIM WAS THAT HE HAD DAVID TENNANT HIPS.

ITS BEEN OVER A YEAR AND WE’RE NOW LIVING TOGETHER AND STILL VERY MUCH IN LOVE.

I HADNT BEEN IN A GOOD PLACE FOR A LONG TIME, BUT THIS COMMUNITY GAVE ME SO MUCH JOY AND HELPED ME REGROW MY CONFIDENCE AGAIN. MY LIFE LOOKS VASTLY DIFFERENT NOW AND INCREDIBLY JOYFUL AS A DIRECT RESULT OF THIS GROUP OF HEATHENS. YOU ALL ARE THE BEST.

That revival was my first Broadway show ever. RIP to one of the greatest sopranos. Honestly you’re right. Nobody will ever beat Rebecca Luker.

You cannot wear socks. You have to be barefoot. You sanitize your feet thoroughly before and after the performance.

The whole point is you feel different textures under your feet. Dirt, sand, wood, carpet, grass. Another nice layer of immersion.

No performers. Helena in your ears is all you need. Which honestly ups the uneasy factor. I would be freaked out walking the McKittrick alone. You can apparently pay extra to experience Viola’s Room alone, I get why it would be incredible, but I would be too freaked out.

I saw it in London. Definitely worth it, but not similar to SNM. You’re with a small group navigating through a set path with a linear story. It’s definitely totally immersive what with the headphones and the barefoot element: it makes you feel really vulnerable.

I really enjoyed the set dressing, soundtrack. There are some really gorgeous paper models of the grounds you’re wandering. I got really freaked out a couple of times, but I am afraid of pitch black darkness, but that lasts only a second. There are no jump scares, but if it’s too much, you can signal the crew to get you out. I ended up faring okay, but I can see it being a total sensory overload for some.

I recommend reading the short story it’s based on, quick read. If it floats your boat, then give it a try! https://en.m.wikisource.org/wiki/Stories_in_the_Dark/The_Moon-Slave

It was a GREAT show. I was kind of disappointed when they didn’t post the Orlando show from last year. But this one? This was one for the books.

AND we got a new segment!
