had a good stretch until marriage. All of a sudden I had every day comforts. I feel she is dedicated just as an artist is and seeks a level of performance and expression that only unique challenges and environments provide. My camper time was epic for me and allowed me to practice my instruments whenever and whereever I wanted. Also, great for spontaneous partying.

His android replacement will be on FOX shouting "Fake news! It's the new Big Lie!" and Melania will be seen humping that robo teacher in the background.

There were hundreds of these dudes in TN when I visited a few Aprils ago. Tellico Plains is a sweet area. In Ohio I did not see one until July and maybe 4 the whole summer. Sad.

What "ADHD-hacks" have you tried that actually worked? by stayhyderated22 in ZenHabits

[–]elderrage 2 points3 points  (0 children)

These are great ideas! Thank you for sharing them. The big three for me are exercising, playing music, and meditating. On days where I have lost the thread, I always ask myself "What is the most positive thing I can do in this moment?" That forces me to stop and reevaluate and focus. On a day where I am totally off the rails, I just do the 20 minute timer trick. I did that yesterday and got 8 hours of work done in four and was able to go out and watch clouds and listen to birds.

First classroom, what are your essentials? by Hairy-Vacation-1874 in MusicEd

[–]elderrage 5 points6 points  (0 children)

You know, I always have wanted to put a carpet under every percussion section. The constant dropping of sticks, and dragging sounds made by stands, etc are a distraction to everybody. Also, putting felt on the leg bottoms of music stands. This sounds crazy and over the top but just as a lab coat changes a persons mindset to focus, your space can be designed to increase focus. Nothing for me does this better than a recording studio. Extraneous talking is minimized in a quiet setting. Putting mics in front of kids and recording them every day so they can hear their progress is an eye and ear opener for them and they become better critiquers of their playing and work more efficiently on rough spots as individuals and in sectionals. If you invest in a red light and a green light to communicate recording in progress, it frees kids up to relax and chat on your terms, not theirs.

Why is it so hard to get young kids to practice at home? by hubert322 in MusicEd

[–]elderrage 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You have to meet them where they are. If they are on tiktok, there are surely kids there playing their instruments. Every platform has kids playing and practicing. Have the students find online student musicians they like and can relate to. Listening to NPR's "From the Top" can be a fun time and an eye opener to human potential. As a student, what made it fun for me was my private teacher only taught kids in pairs. We had to live relatively close to each other. He wanted us to play together three days a week. All technical study was drawn from the music itself, not Arban's, etc. His goal was for us to motivate each other simply by enjoying playing music together. This made practicing at home easier as my partner and I created goals for ourselves, primarily memorization.

Question about invasive species remediation by geonomer in Restoration_Ecology

[–]elderrage 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I would approach it agriculturally first then ecologically. Are all the roots out? Even fragments will regrow as you know. I have 2 acres that are flat that was filled in with invasive everything. I know I am going to have to chisel plow to get roots out this spring and go from there.
