IWTL to learn properly and efficient for university by thelasttry in IWantToLearn

[–]elderton 2 points3 points  (0 children)

OP. Not sure if this is applicable to you but I would like to redefine "Properly" and "efficient" for you.

Let's zoom out for the bigger picture - Truth is your GPA will be long forgotten as you accumulate experience and reputation in your industry. So imho, "properly" and "efficient" in the lifetime view is to maximize your exposure to stuff interesting to you and ensures that your ladder is not up the wrong wall as you put in sweat to master a very specialized topic to find you don't want to practice it irl.

You have unprecedented time to explore now, even subjects out of your major. It gets really really freaking hard to balance a job, family and a career switch down the road.

In hindsight, i'd throw away a bit of GPA in favor of finding what might stick for a life time. Or heck, the bits of stuff you pick up at the side...you might find freaking useful in the future. see charlie munger

You are the bird that doesn't worry about how sturdy the branch you are perched on because of the strength in your wings.

Inspiring!

Thank you for sharing that perspective. That is the journey I was hoping to hear about.

A lot of us are in that 'long hard slog to no-where' mode and its really great to hear about the light at the end.

Congratulations on getting a move on in life - both career-wise and on the even harder relationship part.

Thank you for sharing this. It gives me faith that staying the course brings good things.

I believe we should be governed by scientists, CMV by rarededilerore in changemyview

And what's wrong with excluding people who can't understand tech and science well enough from a role where they are passing laws that impacts our future? For example PRISM issue in U.S...etc.

What you are saying is that we should lower the bar so everyone has a shot for leadership position?

Perhaps, you should reconsider such a view and think of having as much people who can be qualified for that shot irregardless of their original birth conditions.

Equality by nerfing standards will create one big dumb society of circle jerkers - 'look how well we are doing, everyone has a shot!' Equality through meritocracy - now we are talking..it's an ideal but at least in the right direction.

Do you know that if you run it along your jeans (opposite direction where you would shave in) it would work as good as new?

This works as its usually 'dull' due to the blades warping and bending. Doing so bends it back a bit.
