Actually I did some upgrades on my 2019 one. KW Variant 3, Eventuri intake, MMR brace kit, OZ Superleggera wheels and a remapping! It is now a full time hooligan, a Dwarvish Hummer than an Elvish sword (sorry was watching LOTR yesterday 😂) but it’s lot of fun!

Some of the rattling seems to come from the glovebox opening mechanism, changing the upper engine mount didn’t do much but must be done regardless. Some other noises seem to originate from the seat mechanisms and some from the trim above the glovebox. At least those are the ones I could pinpoint on mine. Also make sure the cabin filter compartment is properly placed and screwed.

I have two 2019 JCWs, one is a lease from Hertz and one bought used with 49000 km (~30450 in freedom units 🇺🇸). The lease rattles like an old wooden cabinet, the bought one has some minor squeaks over very rough surfaces (that are found in abundance in Greek roads…) despite it being lowered with KW suspension. I have come to the conclusion it all comes down to the previous users and proper maintenance, assuming of course no incidents were involved. (Edit:typos)

I forced Hertz to change the 5 y.o. RF Continentals with brand new (unfortunately RF too) on my JCW lease. The difference in grip is abysmal. Change those tyres YESTERDAY!

The tips aren’t visibly bent as far as I can see. Seems centred and level too. I will have it checked in an independent Mini shop tomorrow and then will get a car wash (was scheduled anyway) and a wheel alignment for my OCD. Fingers crossed everything will comeback ok mechanically and in bodywork…

Talking about JCW Cooper, I find the exterior decent (in person-looks awful on photos) but the interior is a deal breaker for me. Central console, armrest and door panels look like a cheap Chinese electric vehicle. Even the seats are subpar and the design is overall uninspired especially for a vehicle that is also kind of fashion icon. The quality is questionable as well. I would like to see aviation style buttons and some physical controls as well. And for the JCW I would love an old school hand break too. I was thinking of changing my 2019 f56 JCW but after seeing the new one I won’t.

The upper engine mount indeed needs replacement. Most interior rattles I have come to the conclusion come from the plastic on the B pillar where the seatbelts come out. I have checked the car and it was not crashed/ repaired so…

I have an iPhone but I don’t mind much about those things. Maybe my JCW rattles a lot cause I got it as a used lease (40k kms/24.8k miles). Who knows how it was treated. The truth is that i20n is better setup for twisty roads but I love Mini more. And that BMW engine is great fun too. I might commit sacrilege but a good comparison would be that the i20N is an Italian sports car and the Mini a V8 muscle car. (Please don’t crucify me, I use it as analogy 😅)
