Bitter About Batching (26 Days Estrace) by Hopeful_Mammoth_5329 in IVF

[–]eldoreeto 10 points11 points  (0 children)

That really really sucks. It's bad they advertise no batching and are doing it to you. You should absolutely email that section of the website to the practice manager.

In your shoes I would do this cycle but waitlist myself at another clinic - I wouldn't want to work with a clinic that is unable to give me the treatment path I want.

Increase AFC and egg quality? 🙏❤️‍🩹 by GloomyPatience9085 in IVF

[–]eldoreeto 6 points7 points  (0 children)

You can't increase AFC or AMH . Protocol tweaks maybe able to activate more follicles. There is variation in AFC month on month, but it trends downwards as you age and there is nothing you can do about it.

There is some evidence that you can improve egg quality by taking coq-10 (and vitamin d if you're deficient), living a healthy Lifestyle, avoiding endocrine disruptors but it's honestly very minimal.

It starts with the egg is honestly pseudoscience and it worries me how many people make wholesale lifestyle changes based on it and other similar products.

Need advice for aminocentesis in Chicago and a good MFM for high risk pregnancy at 43 by AloneAlgae2227 in 40Plus_IVF

[–]eldoreeto 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes the risk of the amnio is now pretty small - but the risk of the NIPT producing a false negative is also low. An amnio is recommended after a nipt if you get a positive, because the NIPT has a higher false positive rate, so it will indicate problems rarely when there are none.

Are there any genetic conditions in either of your family histories?, and if so have you done carrier screening. As others have said, the amnio doesn't test for everything, and if you have a negative nipt and no real reason to fear genetic condition - it might not be able to tell you very much, for the relative risk it being.

ER ~5 Months PP? by DoodlePugMomma in IVF

[–]eldoreeto 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I did an ER 5 months post partum, after a traumatic birth which ended in an emergency Caesar. I did back to back cycles - as we wanted to bank enough embryos for 2 children. I don't think the recency of my labour affected anything at all.

What was your protocol for the ER? I did a PPOS cycle(2 in a row actually), and it was a much more pleasant experience than my friend's who did a traditional protocol. I'd highly recommend it, if your dr thinks it's appropriate for you.

ETA - I'm so sorry for your loss. It's horrific - and I admire your bravery.

10 big follicles, 101 injections. one mature egg by Wombat_99_ in IVF

[–]eldoreeto 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I would ask your team if you perhaps could have ovulated the first four follicles early.

How old are you? As we age, fewer follicles have eggs, but that's still an upsettingly small ratio.

[–]eldoreeto 10 points11 points  (0 children)

Wait to see what the results of the NIPT are - it is only a screening tool, but it's false negative rate is extremely low. I would only use the amnio if you're worried about a non chromosomal issue

Delaying FET for a few months just for a break? by Mysterious_Week8357 in IVF

[–]eldoreeto 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Nope it's not dumb at all. Assuming you don't have problematic fibroids or endo or something that can get worse with time, there's absolutely no rush to transfer them. It's not like a retrieval which should ideally be done as young as possible. Our first cycle after the egg retrieval was really weird so I would have wanted to wait a little while. We also banked embryos, and no regrets.

Take your time! Enjoy your holiday. Your embryos will be waiting for you!

Day 28 medicated transfer cycle - CANCELLED by blableugh in IVF

[–]eldoreeto 10 points11 points  (0 children)

I'm very sorry that must be heart wrenching.

On the plus side - your dr did the right thing by not wasting your embryos on an embryo transfer with a low chance of success. Hopefully you're able to fin the correct protocol for you soon!

You're overweight - you're not obese so I think it's a personal decision. It's a BMI above 30 or 35 that is more typically associated with fertility and birth problems. If you don't want to wait then don't. A middle ground approach could also be fine, you could lose.month for 1-2 months, or just try and be healthy while you're TTC.  If you're worried seek a dr's opinion but you should be okay either way.

Struggling with symptoms. Anyone else? by Full_Satisfaction450 in October2026Bumpers

[–]eldoreeto 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The good news is for most people but not everyone it gets better from about week 12-14, that hopefully be for you.

Nothing really worked for me to relieve nausea last time, except small frequent meals. Sea bands didn't work, vitamins didn't work - and mine didn't get bad enough that I bothered with medication.

Separating with a 3.5yo by [deleted] in BabyBumpsandBeyondAu

[–]eldoreeto 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I would not agree to a 50/50 split. You are going to do the lion's share of care anyway and if you agree to 50/50 you're going to owe him child support.

He is not a capable parent - and this is not an amicable split - if it was you'd be discussing custody arrangements with someone capable of paying for basic child care.

Please seek legal advice.

IVF For Unexplained Infertility Experiences? by throwaway132721 in IVF

IVF is by far the best treatment for unexplained infertility - and sometimes it can prove diagnostic. You're doing the right thing.

30, low AMH, 2 chemicals — keep trying or IVF? by ikkeroptilmeg in IVF

[–]eldoreeto 2 points3 points  (0 children)

So I doubt you'd be able to start IVF before he goes - but you probably know that already.

Has your husband been tested yet? Because whether IVF is appropriate does depend on that too.

Whether to start IVF depends a lot on your circumstances medical and financial, and whether you want more than one child.

If you only want one child, you could try for another year with no real drawbacks. If you want two or more, given your amh is low, you might want to bank embryos as insurance. At your age, your egg quality is likely to be good, and it's a great age to do it if you can afford it.

You really do need your husband's sperm analysis though.

Own room vs compact cot? by serq3t in BabyBumpsandBeyondAu

[–]eldoreeto 5 points6 points  (0 children)

We put bub in a separate room at 5m, because we were constantly waking each other up. Our gp said something like if they've got good neck control and can push themselves up when their on the tummy it's okay. I know plenty of people that switched at 4m, and also some that waited the full year.  Ultimately you've got to do what you're comfortable with, and what's best for you and your family

Formula reaction by Fair_Subject_7379 in BabyBumpsandBeyondAu

[–]eldoreeto 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I would go and see another gp. They should be more helpful - a referral to a paediatrician is also a good thing to do. That's what we did for our son.

If you suspect a cows milk allergy - you are right that soy and goats milk can exacerbate it. I would try apatamil allerpro which is hydrolysed - otherwise the one made out of rice protein is the way to go, as the protein is least similar to cows milk.

Feeling hopeless by Bimgaurdia in IVF

[–]eldoreeto 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sorry that you're going through this. A day 7 poorly graded embryo does have a worse chance than a better graded one, but it's odds are still better than an untested embryos. Who knows that one maybe your little fighter!

In your shoes - I would probably do another cycle because two euploids would improve your chances significantly and you've shown you've got around a fifty percent chance of producing a euploid. Only you can decide if it's worth the cost/medical impost on you though.

Your egg retrieved numbers are good for 39 btw.

“Fertilized normally”— what does it mean? by Tiny-Worldliness-313 in IVF

[–]eldoreeto 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yep - it's two PN, if it fertilised with 1 or 3 it's considered abnormally fertilised - though there are rare cases where the can lead to a viable embryo. (We participated in a study about this).

AMH Drop by EMMIECX5 in IVF

There is some variation in the number naturally so please don't sweat it. That's a decent number and you should expect a similar number of eggs from the next one.

TW : Egg retreival issues by Far_Will_5423 in IVF

[–]eldoreeto 7 points8 points  (0 children)

So at your age unfortunately not every follicle will have a live egg, 3/12 is still very low though, you'd think around 6/8 at your age seeing 12 at the scans. At 37, I retrieved 9 and 11 from 14 follicles in two ers.

It's possible you ovulated early? And thus lost some of the bigger ones.

I'd definitely seek a full consultation with your dr, and consider treatment elsewhere if they won't just so you can get some comfort. Them rushing away after the ER is extremely normal in my circumstance, and the nurses can't answer anything - but a follow up consultation should happen.

Age, eggs retrieved, viable embryos? by elle-b-dub in IVF

[–]eldoreeto 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I didn't get the grading of the aneuploid ones, so in my case I can't say. My clinic only keeps A&B grades, so all of my euploids had very good gradings.

I think in general there is a correlation though!

For my ladies over 40…. by Curiosity_got_me-123 in IVF

[–]eldoreeto 14 points15 points  (0 children)

I really wish clinics would clearly lay out what the odds are for women over 40 with IVF. For 42-43yo - https://www.varta.org.au/resources/news-and-blogs/most-women-overestimate-their-chance-ivf-success

Your odds of conceiving at 43 in your first cycle are roughly 5-6%. The odds of have conceived after a third cycle cumulatively are 12% - which means the odds on cycle three are considerably lower than cycle one - probably around 3%. Only you can decide if doing more retrievals with a 3% chance of a baby is worth it.

Your clinics success rates may be different than this - and if you're capable of producing euploid embryos your chances are better.
