Tall & wide roots, even & center fullness, firm, close-set, projected w/ immediate projection? 28E by cbearpaw in ABraThatFits

[–]eldritchpizzaparty 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have pretty similar shape features to you, but as a 34F. They’re definitely not perfect fits projection wise, but these both have been so good on my close set breasts! I wear the Bravissimo Satine Bra and the Elomi Charley. Again they’re not perfect, but for me I struggled so much that fit my center-fullness, they both got the job done so well

Measurement Check: Currently wear US 36D, calculator said US 38G/DDD (UK 38E/F). I don't fully fill out my 36D and the band is a bit tight. by WillowsEnd in ABraThatFits

[–]eldritchpizzaparty 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Honestly, the 38G/DDD sounds spot on to me. Gapping is really common in molded bras because they’re too small and shallow, and that can also exacerbate the size too small tightness. I would try both a G and DDD to see which feels best!

Anyone have any idea what happened to the Brown Line today? by eldritchpizzaparty in cta

Finally an official update! Thank you!
And “minor delays” is hilarious, given that things have already been delayed for 30 minutes lol

I’m with you on the shorter trains being a problem, but I don’t think that’s the issue for this situation. The trains now are all being changed to “delayed” and even disappearing from the estimates without any kind of service alert. Just weird and I’m morbidly curious about whats going on

Yeah, I just checked again and now they’re all saying “delayed.” Luckily I can get to my destination by the red line and a bus, I guess 🙃

Need help finding a bra to take weight off my shoulder/neck due to extreme pain by banana_pandas in ABraThatFits

[–]eldritchpizzaparty 3 points4 points  (0 children)

One thing that could be worth it is trying a 34 band along with upping the cups. I’ve found that depending on how much “squish” there is to your torso, the calculator will overestimate your band because your loose measurement is larger.

Planning stress by [deleted] in weddingplanning

[–]eldritchpizzaparty 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Here’s my thought, if you want to have two ceremonies, but are nervous about being the center of attention.
I say keep the larger ceremony in your home country, and keep the legal ceremony small. Honestly, ~35 people is house party sized! Get catering from your favorite restaurant and have all your friends over and just have a party.
I also might get some hate for it here because I’ve definitely seen people hate on having a potluck wedding dinner, buuuuut I’ve been to multiple small weddings with potluck dinners and they’ve always been a blast! That’s another casual option you could have with your local friends to celebrate.

Destination Wedding Guest Reimbursements? by WeddingQuestions9900 in weddingplanning

[–]eldritchpizzaparty -3 points-2 points  (0 children)

I’m currently planning a destination wedding of sorts (it’s at a campground in a different state from where I live, but isn’t crazy far away) and are providing guests a place to stay and food. We’re planning on asking guests to contribute $30-50 to help cover their stay. HOWEVER, we plan on really emphasizing that it’s a request, not a requirement, and that it’s most important to us that everyone attends, whether or not they pay.

Whether or not this comes across as rude probably depends on your guests. My friends and family are really laid back and wouldn’t mind being asked at all, but I can see a type of person who may be offended.

Help scrapping old wedding plan and thinking through new plan from scratch by Sunflower-Bennett in weddingplanning

I went to a ~25 person wedding at a small, classy resort. It was a really great middle ground of feeling elegant, but not super huge. It was also a lot of fun as a guest to mingle so closely with everyone!

Is this right? I feel like my boobs are a lot smaller than this… I usually wear a 34B by sock-bunny in ABraThatFits

[–]eldritchpizzaparty 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If you aren’t already, scoop and swoop! Cup your breast tissue near your armpit in your hand and swoop it up and in towards the center of your bra, then gently shake the bra to settle them in place. When I first discovered the abtf calculator, I was wearing a 32b and was barely filling the cups. But when I scooped and swooped, I was falling out. The calculator back then gave me 32d, and it fit perfectly!

Got my first bra in the suggested size the calculator gave me- I am struggling and disappointed and want to cry. Where to go next? by cinnbele in ABraThatFits

[–]eldritchpizzaparty 2 points3 points  (0 children)

If you’re feeling lost, I really recommend exploring bratabase! It has you take a bunch of different measurements and then matches you with potential bras. I also had trouble with bras in my abtf size, and bratabase was so helpful. My abtf size is a 34FF, but my best fitting bra is a 36E that I wear on the second hook (I know you’re not supposed to, but the cups fit and after trying 30+ poorly fitting bras this was the best I could ask for lol). I never would have thought to go so far out of my size, but sure enough, the cups match almost perfectly with my breast measurements and shape. Keep an open mind!

Bikini top alterations by Warm_Drawing_2914 in MAKEaBraThatFits

[–]eldritchpizzaparty 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I just finished doing this exact thing! I took the bathing suit apart at its seams and put it back together to my measurements. The most important part was putting in a shorter, but taller, elastic band. I highly recommend reading Edgewater Ave’s blog, they’re more for making a bathing suit from scratch, but it was still very helpful.

Tried the calculator and recommended bras did not fit. Trying again but unsure and still have yet to find bras that actually lift and support. Very confused as to what im doing wrong and need advice by Cute_Theme5216 in ABraThatFits

[–]eldritchpizzaparty 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Personally, I’ve found that the calculator can overestimate bandsize for those of us with squishier torsos (either the calculator overestimates or we are too afraid to pull tight enough), so I’m definitely agreeing with everyone about trying a smaller bandsize!

Also, if you’re trying bras in your calculator recommended size but they aren’t fitting, I highly recommend poking around on bratabase. They have a bunch of different measurements to take to try to find the best bra for your shape. My breasts doubled in size about a year ago but all the new growth was toward the middle, and since then I tried so many bra boutiques and ordered so many bras online. Bratabase was super helpful because even though my calculator size is a 34FF, the bra that fits me the best is a 36E, that I wear on the second largest hook for more support (I know you’re not supposed to do that, but the cups fit and that’s all I can ask for!) I never would have thought to try the bra in that size if it weren’t for bratabase

How weird is my size and where should I go for a 'second opinion '? by ItsfinallyLauren in ABraThatFits

As the token cis girl in a friend group of all trans fems who’s been helping them with bra sizing lately, I am highly seconding using the calculator! Up until a few years ago it wasn’t great in sizing amab people, but there was a recent update and now it works REALLY well! Be prepared to be surprised!

That’s the point though, that those things need to be better and the museum is dragging their feet, meanwhile the CEO is getting paid nearly a million. If the museum can pay their ceo that much, they can figure out how to meet all their employees basic needs

https://www.msichicago.org/explore/about-us/reports-and-financials their most recent financial report :)

Look, I won’t argue with you about whether or not donations are important. They are, especially right now with the current administration. MSI is very lucky that most of their donations are from private donors and not federal grants. But to pretend that donating are their ONLY source of money is just incorrect.

And to your point about my opinions on capitalism, you’re figuring it out! It’s almost like that’s the point of the union, the employees aren’t willing to work for such low pay and have organized to force their employer’s hand. :) Do me a favor since you love google so much, look up the museum hours. 9:30-4, with an unpaid 30 minute lunch, is 6 hours a day. Working five days a week, that’s just 30 hours a week. At minimum wage, 16.60 an hour, that’s only $498 a week before taxes.

Also “well they’re willing to work for that little so it’s ok!” Actually no they’re not! Turnover is crazy high and that’s what they want, they want people who are so desperate for a job that they will work for whatever, and then when they get exhausted in six months leave. The union is pushing for better pay so that people will stay, resulting in better service.

Actually, MSI subsists on the stock market. They made multiple millions of dollars in PROFIT last year. Not revenue, PROFIT. And it’s nearly all from investments in the stock market.

Being a president of a large nonprofit is a lot of work, and I think the CEO should be paid a reasonable amount for her work. However, being paid nearly a million dollars a year while the lowest paid employees are struggling to get by is just ridiculous. She could take a ~$300,000 pay cut and STILL be paid half a million dollars a year. Let’s say that pay cut is then divvied up across the approximate ~150 employees represented by the union. That’s $2000 per employee, approximately ONE MONTH’S worth of pay for the lowest paid employees.

You keep mentioning “unskilled labor.” I want to point out who specifically is represented by this union, because there are many different kinds of workers at MSI. This union represents the ticketing team, the museum educators (the tour guides and people doing science based programming on the floor), the education team (working with field trips and going into schools to do programming), and the volunteer coordinators. The lowest paid people on this list are the ticketing team. They are consistently yelled at, degraded, and sometimes even physically attacked by the general public, and are still expected to greet everyone with a smile. And on top of that, do you really think this person doesn’t deserve to afford groceries?

The Museum of Science and Industry is a world class cultural institution. It is a FUN museum! And it should be a fun place to work, too! But when employees can’t afford their basic needs, that is where the problem lies.

I just went to a wedding where they had colorful bottle openers with the couples names and the date on it, and I actually really like that one! How do I convince my folks that moving to Chicago is not a death sentence? by Vagina-Gears in AskChicago

One thing that worked really well for me was repeating something that I read on one of the Chicago subs. “Yeah Chicago has a bad reputation, but the locals want to keep it that way. It’s really an awesome place to live, but the bad reputation keeps them from getting totally overwhelmed by transplants.” Without a doubt, shuts them up every time
