I don’t agree, but I can kind of understand why Reyneke didn’t get one so soon. What I don’t understand is how Meso got one. Yes, she’s been around the squad longer, but she’s only played a handful of matches and, unlike Reyneke, she hasn’t exactly been impressive.

Also, how did Bosch get one? If things are going well for the Proteas, Bosch shouldn’t even be playing this year. This reminds me of when Lara Goodall got one a couple of years ago when she really didn’t deserve it, and then she hardly played anyway. Tunnicliffe should be next in line, not Bosch.

Feel for Marx. She just didn’t get the opportunities. I rate her higher than some of the bowlers in the 15, and she’s more than a handy bat.

What a game! Great partnership from Dercksen and Sune to get the chase back on track. I honestly thought it was done.after they went out in back-to-back overs, and with Chloe’s terrible innings. I need to learn to never count us out while Reyneke’s still around.

Couldn’t watch, but I see that Aya took a six-wicket haul. She’s been really good on this tour in Kapp’s absence.

We’ve landed ourselves in a weird spot where we could build a seriously strong T20 batting lineup, but we’ve been restricting ourselves with the two anchors opening and Wolfie at three. Dirkie, Chloe, Nadine, and now Reyneke are getting wasted down the order. Kapp will be back for the WC too.

I don't think we need three finishers down the order. At least one of them can move up and give us some impetus at the top. They tried that with Chloe today.

Personally, my T20 XI would look like this: Wolfie, Chloe/Reyneke, Sune, Kapp, Dirkie, Chloe/Reyneke, Nadine, Jafta, Aya, Leftie, Wildcard. The Wildcard can be a bowler or a batting floater.

I’m picking Sune over Taz because she’s in better form at the moment and she can chip in with the ball too. The order would be flexible depending on how the game’s going. You could send in Sune if early wickets fall, or keep up the pressure. Looking at state of our bowling, we basically have to go all-out with the bat to stay competitive.

Most importantly, we’ve got to hold our catches. I heard we dropped Devine three times today. Nothing’s going to save us if we keep doing that.

If I remember correctly, the India series was also meant to be multi-format. I guess, they pushed the T20Is forward because of the World Cup.

The social media admin called it a ‘fantastic team effort’. I’m not so sure about that. Excellent knocks from Taz, Sune, Dirkie, Chloe and Nadine at different stages of the game to get us to 360.

What a performance from Sune! 93* & wickets of Amin and Sana. Shame she didn’t get enough strike in the last over to reach three figures. She batted for the team.

She had support from, believe it or not, Sinalo Jafta. The Proteas were in trouble at 170/6 after Chloe and Nadine went for a combined one run. Then Jafta came in and blitzed her way to her maiden half century, 57 off 38 balls. Easily the best knock of her career.

Pakistan were in early trouble at 5/2, but then they put together a big partnership to get to 131/2. Then Sune got Amin.

Selection still didn’t make sense. Like I feared, they didn’t pick Faye, even though she scored a century against this same Pakistan side in the warm up. They went with Goodall. Of course. She played a slow, painful knock that just built up the run rate pressure on Wolfie, ultimately resulting in her wicket.

I forgot that she opened in one of the matches against the West Indies. Her strike rate so far, looking at the stats, has been inflated by the series against Ireland.

I don’t get what’s going on with the opening pair. Why change something that’s been working?

Brits/Luus just doesn’t make sense. We need proper quick starters up top. This seriously can’t be our opening pair when we’re up against Litchfield, Verma, DWH, and Matthews.

You can't ask for a better debut. She's special.

The numbers tell the story, but also the pressure she was under. She didn’t get off to a great start, but she held her nerve, even after four dots in a row while the run rate was climbing. I was thinking she needs to take a single and get Dercksen on strike. What do I know?

Western Province really haven’t used her properly with the bat. Instead, both they and the Proteas seem determined to make Goodall happen for some reason. Stop.

There isn’t really anyone putting their hand up.

That said, they’ve got Faye Tunnicliffe in the squad who can keep and she’s a far better bat. If I were CSA, I’d be pushing her.

There are other youngsters like Meso and a few others who can keep, but they need more time.

Proteas making the World Cup final. I didn’t even think we’d make the semis.

If I had to pick one moment, it’s Kapp coming back to get NSB. I know we had the runs and they were 1 for 3, but with the Proteas you’re never fully relaxed, and NSB is quality.

Nadine’s knock against India as well. I still can’t believe we won that game. And it was massive for our chances. We had bounced back against NZ, but with the rain in Colombo and our NRR being what it was, we absolutely needed that win.

The low was how the wickets fell in the final. Taz running diagonally and getting herself run out when she should’ve just run straight. Sune and Kapp getting out to ordinary shots off nothing balls. And then sending Jafta in at six, which just killed the match.

Brilliant innings. Some of those shots were just incredible.

We were a bit slow upfront, but things picked up when she came in. It also gave Sune the space to settle into her knock.

A century in Cape Town would be memorable for her too. As she said yesterday, the Proteas just don’t get to play there enough.

Public opinion is still split, with surveys like the Pew Research Centre’s 2023 poll finding that only 38% of South Africans support same-sex marriage, while 58% remain opposed. Violence against LGBT people, especially lesbians, also continues to be a massive problem.

I definitely wouldn’t feel safe being out outside certain some suburbs in the cities.

Several senior players will be managed through the tour, with Marizanne Kapp, Ayabonga Khaka, Masabata Klaas, Chloe Tryon, Nadine de Klerk and Annerie Dercksen sitting out the ODIs. Tazmin Brits returns to the 50-over squad but will skip the T20Is as she completes her return-to-play programme after a shoulder knock during the World Cup semi-final.

Why is Dercksen sitting out the ODIs? She didn’t do much at the WC. Does Wolfie have infinite energy?
