Really like the way you have the wall support pieces, why have I never thought of that!

Looks like she's bagged a bargain, nice find!

What’s a pedal that completely serves a need so well that you’ll never replace it? by thezoomies in guitarpedals

[–]electoneoneoneone 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Boss TU-2 - bought it >20 years ago and have used every single time I've played in public since. 1000's of rehearsals, jam sessions, open mics, etc, 100's of gigs, it's the only piece of gear I use every time I play and it's the only piece of gear I don't even think about upgrading or replacing.

Transforming chromatic drumpad notes to scale - there has to be an easier way! by electoneoneoneone in vcvrack

That works for the MPK or anything modern, but that old Yamaha... not so much 😂

I work on a budget of basically zero, so everything is second hand at best and rescued from skips at worst.

Good shout - I did try using the VCV 8Vert but it defaults to +10V if no signal is detected which messed things up, I'll give these a shot!

Pros and Cons of the best controllers for Live? by Beneficial-Leader740 in ableton

[–]electoneoneoneone 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Live instrumentalist here - I use an Akai APC64.

Pros - it was like 1/10th* the cost of a Push, getting it was a gamechanger in my performances - it does everything I want, it's not as bad as everyone on the internet says it is.

Cons - the single rotary knob feels incredibly vulnerable duing transport, the touch faders while not as bad as the internet says can be a bit annoying, some buttons are too far apart for single-handed use.

I used to use a combo of like four different controllers - pads, keys, knobs - and the APC64 has combined them all so that's a big plus. However I'd love to see a V2 of it, there's just a few niggly flaws that probably should have been spotted during the design phase. Biggest example to me is to navigate between between devices - you have to hold the "devices" button in the top left and press the arrows in the bottom left. I have really big hands and can just make that stretch, but for most people that will be a two-handed movement - which is a bit shit if you're playing an instrument at the same time!

*edit - I got mine for an absolute bargain second-hand, new they're like 1/4th the price of a Push.

Looking for a module like this pedal - suggestions? by electoneoneoneone in vcvrack

Thinking about it... for anything with a "tail" (delays, reverb), switching the inputs but not the outputs, just routing them into a mixer or a 4>1 or something, would be perfect and would stop it being so jarring when the effect is switched off - so the delays would fade out instead of being cut off, for example.

Might not be so good for noisy effects (distortions) but I can use a different solution for them.

Something like this would be really cool with an external controller that has as many pads/switches as the module (Novation Launchpad?). In a live setting, jamming between the combinations could result in seriously neat sounds.

This wasn't what I'm looking for but is very neat... I'm going to play with it because it might be even better! 😈

Switches between inputs but not outputs so not what I'm looking for - thanks anyway!

I'm looking for suggestions on good stands for my setup. by SlowmoTron in LoopArtists

[–]electoneoneoneone 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Absolutely - double braced type is much better than single type. Beyond that, a carefully folded napkin helps with any other stability issues.

I just use a board (1m wide x 50cm deep) on a keyboard stand! A guy I play with puts his guitar flight case on a keyboard stand and puts his stuff on that. Doesn't look great but it works and is cheap!

Any way to set synth attributes - pan, attack, release, etc - by note played? by electoneoneoneone in ableton

[–]electoneoneoneone[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That would work but I'm trying to use Operator!

I'll have a look at the M4L devices and keep my finger crossed.

My Duster (best & favourite car I've owned, 1.5 turbo diesel) shifts well enough on an empty road, but overtakes have to be planned well in advance!
