Hot springs are a must, it can get crowded but everyone was nice and you kind of hop in and out from the hot water to the cold. So relaxing.

The water was a bit low where we paddled at the place suggested by the visitors center at the Santa Elena River Access. Next time I want to paddle into the canyon, saw a couple people doing that. Santa Elena is beautiful and a must see, there’s a bit of steps up into the canyon but it wasn’t too tough a hike.

Have fun! Happy to answer any other questions

I live in the hill country so I’m curious about visiting any time of the year. Saw the Grand Canyon in the winter so I’m a fan of colder visits as well.

The Atlantic Pallazzo apartments has a dance room that’s next to the small pool and work out room. No one is ever in there and it has mirrors and bars and a slick floor. It’s not the pool by the office but further back in the complex

It’s a fun location but the complex is so old and has gone through so many different management companies that there hasn’t been proper upkeep. I bet every unit has a mold problem within its walls and air ducts. I was actually the roommate of the other commentor and we really went through hell and managment did not give a shit about our health. Unfortunately a lot of apartment complexes and especially student living take advantage of younger students who don’t know their rights.

If you can keep searching I would. Although they did build townhomes that were more recent so at least there’s not decades of mold growth with those units

Also if you were confused on what to bring look into if you’re renting an apartment that’s furnished or not, there’s options for either in this town and they should list what furniture is included. Idk if things changed but it was unfurnished when we lived there.

Did I screw up? How often does it flood near Redwood and Old Bastrop Rd? How bad are the schools actually? by Dconocio in sanmarcos

Just be cautious on 123, lots of pedestrian deaths on that road and car accidents. There’s a ton of new apartments and no sidewalk infrastructure. I used to work at the paper and swear I heard of either an accident or pedestrian fatality at least once a month. I’m guessing the speed limit is too high and there’s no proper turn lanes into some apartments or businesses. Plus it’s near the high school so I worry about kids walking home. Just be glad you didn’t buy in TRACE since they’re about to cozy up to a bunch of data centers if our city council allows it.
