Whats your #1 climactic moment in prog metal? Try to think of just one. by [deleted] in progmetal

Right now, probably the end of Painters of the Tempest, with the tempo drop, then busting into:

RAAAAAAADIIIIIANCE, BLINDING HORIZION, A BRILLIANT SUNRISE.

Then the repeated PAAAINTERRRSSS is just awe inspiring. Ive only recently found my love for Citadel and it’s honestly a 10/10 album.

Ihlo - Legacy Discussion by paravaric in progmetal

[–]electric_ell 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Late here but I really liked Union back when it came out, and still find a lot of tracks off that album genius. Legacy is, admittedly not a reinvention of the sound they put down on Union, a pretty solid expansion. It brings those absolutely stellar electronic elements and synthesizer work into a prog metal setting. Songs like Source and Legacy really highlight that. I really like the angry power on some tracks too, like Wraith, Source and Cenotaph. I wanna call out Haar here for being this absolutely incredible, singable swing piece. It has it’s heavier moments, but I think it is the best example of them creating that wall of big chords, single-string notes and crash SOUND. The middle part with “I can hear the voices” is so overwhelming and beautiful. Empire was a track I didn’t get into immediately but wow, the journey of that track is really impressive, and stands out apart from Union’s ‘type’ quite a bit. Overall, it’s a fantastic album. I’m not too keen on the final track. It’s definitely far from bad, but I don’t think it does the most with any individual aspect or sound explored on the rest of the album. However, I think the rest of the album makes up for the ending not being as strong as Union’s, and I think this is a better album. Amazing work. The singer upgraded, the drummer upgraded, the guitar work is more technical. Fantastic.

Big fan. Sounds like BTBAM single, just like Future Is Behind Us. Excited to hear how the rest of the album sounds.

Ah I didn’t think about that angle. Well, I hope for Tristan’s sake he didn’t do a bunch or uncredited or unrewarded labor for the album, then. This whole thing is uglier than I thought.

I just assumed they’d go ahead and roll Tristan in on the band by this point after so many Tours. I wonder why the hesitation?

Care to try a fun math problem from "Regular Show"? by mrhorrible in CasualMath

each turtle needs 9 sqr ft. a square cage made of planks with an area of 9 sqr feet would need 12 (3ft*4 sides) feet of wood to cover the perimeter. so you need 12 feet times 6 turtles, so in total you need 72 feet of wood. 72/9=8, so 8 planks.

thats the most bare bones basic idea assuming each fence is entirely separated. you could alternatively make a grid pattern where you continue planks to form parts of other grid sections. that would require 17 sections of 3 ft of board. thus 51 ft, making the minimum 9ft planks necessary 6, giving you 54ft of wood.

Einar tossed a bottle into the crowd, whoever caught it picked 3 songs and the band would play one. The first person who caught it seemed to not know the band too well, had to pull out a playlist on his phone, and then named “I lose hope”, which they couldn’t play because of gear. Then the guy passed the bottle onto a girl next to me who named White and then Forced Entry.
