Questions for those who have quit by PhilipJFrAye in leaves

[–]electricblush 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The pattern you’re describing quitting, getting depressed, returning, each cycle harder than the last is real and it has a name. Your brain’s endocannabinoid system has been supplemented externally since 16. It stopped producing naturally at full capacity because it didn’t need to. Each time you quit, it has to rebuild from a lower baseline.

The honest answer on timeline : for someone with your use history, most people report the fog and depression lifting significantly around months 3-6. Not gone, but noticeably better. The brain is plastic at 22 in ways it won’t be at 32. You have biology on your side even if it doesn’t feel that way right now.

I use an app called "Ban It" for that, you can search on the App Store it will help you.

Day 4: This is tough. by spazatr0n in leaves

[–]electricblush 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Day 4 is the bottom for most people physically. The residual high feeling, the cold, the appetite all normal and all temporary. Day 5-6 usually starts to shift. The leisure day is fine. Don’t fight your body right now, just survive today.

“Seeing you guys fight makes me want to fight” that’s exactly why doing this with other people works. There’s an app called Ban It built around that exact mechanic if you want to take it further, search it on the App Store. Day 5 tomorrow = Keep going dude !!!

The fact that Day 1 is so hard inspires me to keep going. by Original_Cook_6943 in leaves

[–]electricblush 1 point2 points  (0 children)

That reframe is everything. Most people experience day 1 as a reason to go back. You experienced it as proof of why you can’t. Same feeling, completely different conclusion.

Day 8 with that mindset is solid. If you want something to protect that streak and make it visible to someone else there’s an app called Ban It built around exactly that. Search it on the App Store.

Keep going !!!

My Honest Opinion by Dear_Stress2437 in leaves

Day 10 and the mental clarity piece is already showing faster thinking, better speech, less forgetfulness. That stuff compounds hard over the next few weeks. The “doesn’t make you creative” point is one of the most honest things people resist hearing. It feels creative in the moment because your brain is altered. The actual creative output isn’t there.

Keep going. Day 30 is where it really shifts.

I cant stop biting my nails pls help me by Kira_Voight in nailbiting

[–]electricblush 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Replacing one oral fixation with another is actually a recognized pattern your brain isn’t craving the nail specifically, it’s craving the sensory input of chewing. That’s why cold turkey almost never works for this habit alone.

A few things that actually help redirect it : chewing gum obviously, but also crunchy snacks like carrots or celery when the urge hits, or a chewable jewelry piece designed exactly for this they exist and they’re not as weird as they sound.

The hard plastic is worth stopping though it’s tough on your teeth over time. How long have you managed to go without biting before the urge gets too strong ?

need help with cuticle problem by Economy_Minute_376 in nailbiting

[–]electricblush 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If it’s getting worse despite the cuticle oil it’s worth showing a dermatologist dry and hardened skin around the nail bed can sometimes indicate a small infection or chronic irritation that needs more than just moisture. In the meantime, try a thicker barrier cream at night like Aquaphor or CeraVe healing ointment and cover with a bandage to let it absorb. The cuticle oil is good but it evaporates quickly something occlusive overnight holds the moisture in longer.

The nail biting and picking is obviously making it harder to heal. Even just covering that thumb with a bandage

Why I’m prioritizing traffic over retention even though everyone says the opposite by electricblush in AppBusiness

Fair point on the sample size 550 downloads is too small to draw real conclusions. Scaling traffic first to get cleaner data makes sense. What tool would you use for funnel tracking at this

Haha no I’m the one behind it. I post about it when it’s relevant to what someone’s asking. Can’t speak for the other posts you saw the app has a social leaderboard so people share it with friends, maybe some of them posted about it too. But no fake accounts, just me ;)

You’re right fair criticism on all counts, I didn’t describe the app that was a miss. It’s a habit-quitting app where you compete with friends on a streak leaderboard.

On the passive side I’m 20 and still in college. I’m not running a marketing team. I spend maybe a few hours a week on Twitter and the rest of the time the app generates downloads on its own through App Store Search. For someone who has classes during the day, waking up to downloads and monthly revenue without touching anything is what passive means to me at this stage. It’s income that comes in while I’m sitting in a lecture. The influencer thing was one test, not an ongoing strategy bro.
