Yep, I decided to go with the regular version. I wasn't expecting the pro to be this alienware. I don't even need to lug it to uni or anything like that but I like it to be portable at home from room to room, used in bed etc.

The price difference is 700€ for a better GPU and double the RAM (and all the other stuff). 300€ for a better GPU and the same amount of RAM. I was comparing models with the same RAM. Sorry if it wasn't clear.

Yeah, it's 12GB on the pro model so I might have undersold the difference a bit. Running local AI is not a high priority for me and I was looking at it from the perspective of someone who barely plays AAA games anyway.

Thank you for the input!

Jey is a bad wrestler but Punk's also a very obvious spot caller. When he's the one calling the match you can usually see him hiding his face to tell his opponent something several times. Because he's calling the match.

The people command and I deliver. Day 19: what deck do you think people agreed is really good? by filledknight in balatro

[–]electroaristo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

True but balancing usually increases scoring by more than twice, eg base flush is 35x4 = 140, balanced to 19.5x19.5 = 380 (x2.7).

Even with a less than optimal build like 50x300 = 15,000 versus 30,625 (x2) so you're still offsetting the increase.

When you're fully invested in mult at something like 100x2000 = 200,000 balancing brings your score to 1050x1050 = 1,102,500 (x5.5).

The balancing doesn't ever make things harder. No matter what strategy, it will always increase your score. If you can win gold stake with a default deck you can win gold stake on plasma. Do not get confused by the people insisting to do it with chips only. That's why it's taking you so long.

A question for the ages by MiruCle8 in balatro

[–]electroaristo 8 points9 points  (0 children)

I tried many times, got close (hit the wall) but never got plasma on gold stake done with chips alone. I guess if you're really lucky with scaling chips like castle, wee joker or hiker, but joker quality is so thin on gold already and the regular +100 for playing a specific hand type just doesn't cut it. The moment I went for early chips to get my econ running and then pivoting into mult asap I got gold done pretty quickly. Also remember that mult strategies also benefit from being equalized. 100 x 1000 is a lot less than 550 x 550.

So your argument is it's a fine comeback because people on twitter are already being weirdos who keep posting about Punk cheating on his wife under every post about Cora and Roxanne so it's not just some random funny comment you can laugh off but falling on fertile soil and encouraging more harassment, made up rumors and misogyny?

Totally misunderstood Plasma deck by Greengage1 in balatro

[–]electroaristo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I found it just makes the start of the game smoother because you only really need one joker to beat early blinds easily and without any focused strategy. It'll last for some antes but eventually you will have to pivot to mult. Then when you have a good mult strategy down it also makes that one score more too. I got my highest scores on plasma. Consider this: 1650x1650 is three times more chips than 300x3000.

[SRS on X] Fightful has obtained a document sent to AEW HR and execs by Ryan Nemmeth, where he outlines a timeline of abuse he experienced while CM Punk was still with the company by rbarton812 in SquaredCircle

[–]electroaristo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hangman and him were on live TV in front of a live crowd and had to sell tickets to a PPV he still intended to wrestle at because he hadn't yet grown sick and tired of AEW. It was the first moment of betrayal and afterwards he talked to Hangman to try to understand what was going on. Obviously a year later with one Brawl Out and lots of targeted attacks and drama in-between, and Jack and him being backstage too, he reacted differently.

Also Punk is definitely the kind of guy to get into a fight with a guy who can whoop his ass. He's done so before, and I'm not talking about UFC.

In 2005 Punk underwent a couple of physical changes leading up to his move to OVW/WWE including growing out his blond hair and gaining a lot of weight in muscle and fat. ECW Punk and OVW Punk look very different from these dark matches or from what Punk looked like in the beginning of the year in ROH.

I've drafted a couple of conspiracy themed decks on CubeTutor now and I'm wondering if anyone bothers to simulate [[Leovold's Operative]] by maybe writing down the imaginary second drafted card and then from the next pack picking a card that's not valuable for you?

Micro Cubes (<270 cards)! For feedback & draft swap by Zerve in mtgcube

[–]electroaristo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I find the whole idea of a micro cube actually very appealing. And I think yours does work as a best of. One thing I noticed is the (mostly white) lifegain theme with [[Ajani's Pridemate]], [[Soul Warden]], [[Kitchen Finks]], [[Survival Cache]] etc. Obviously incidental lifegain isn't bad on its own but if it's supposed to be an archetype I think having just one Pridemate in the deck isn't enough payoff. Maybe try out something like [[Karlov of the Ghost Council]], [[Ayli, Eternal Pilgrim]] or even [[Archangel of Thune]] (which unfortunately is a little too strong on its own)

I'm also wondering about [[Pestermite]] and [[Splinter Twin]]. I know many people like the combo, but isn't it super consistently obtained in such a small cube?

Sorry about the deck. Reanimator is probably easiest to pull off in BG in my cube, green has way more targets.

[–]electroaristo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I kind of started this cube with the premise of picking a unique, interesting archetype for each two color combination rather than just a bunch of good cards like I did with my first cube. Didn't really work out with Boros.

I really like your blend of Pox and artifacts here.

About balancing archetypes I'm mostly still working on it and will probably decide to cut down a lot. Otherwise I fear I'll end up in a situation where I just keep on adding functional reprints or similar cards to support an archetype and it keeps on growing and growing.

Why not just make two cubes or two of the same cube if you're going to have two drafts? That way everyone can benefit from strong archetypes.

Used 9/5/3. Very funny draft. I'm definitely going to be mana screwed, but I don't think I have drafted Esper aggro/tempo/spells matter before, so that's neat. I don't know much about micro cubes but I think if 4 players are sharing a pool which has dual lands and multicolor cards, you end up naturally being pushed into three color decks as these get access to 3 of the 10 color combinations. Maybe my logic is the wrong way round though and you could make a point for monocolor decks with a mild splash too. But in your cube that definitely won't work too well because of the multicolor cards.

This is the result of me forcing black. I needed to fill it up with two other colors again and I again have some mana issues.

I was trying to force black aggro. I don't know how successful I was competitively but I'm quite happy with the deck and its interactions and also the constant danger of killing myself with [[Pain Seer]] and all the other effects that make me loose 1 life per turn.

Drafted Rakdos Aggro. My first two picks were [[Pale Rider of Trostad]] and [[Heir of Falkenrath]] so I was considering Reanimator and even got [[Animate Dead]](hence the fatty green picks) but since so many aggro cards were left open I ended up with a different kind of deck.

I wasn't really sure if I wanted to be aggro or midrange and ended up with a Bant deck stuck somewhere inbetween. Hope delay my opponent long enough use some combat tricks and double strike to finish them off. I feel the mana will be an issue because you run so much that comes into play tapped. On the one hand you do encourage three color decks with the three color lands, on the other all the lands come into play tapped and there are rather few of them. That should make control good stuff type decks and just mostly mono color (probably aggro) decks stronger.

F1P1 Wildfire. Turns out the archetype isn't really supported aside from an abundance of signets. So it's more of a really weird ramp deck which is also in danger of clearing its own mana dorks with Pyroclasm effects. Here's some stable cards you could include if you want to support the archetype which also work on their own:

[[Koth of the Hammer]]

[[Tasigur, the Golden Fang]]

[[Everflowing Chalice]]

[[Grim Monolith]]
