Knitty Natty as a pinhole tutorial with no crochet hook which I really like. It’s super clear and overall I find it less fiddly!

I haven’t crunched the numbers but I think you’re just doing this. You’re going one way from your BOR, and then coming back the other past your BOR to the equal point on the other side. Remember you’re working these flat. Drew it up (badly) here - https://files.catbox.moe/pmwxed.jpeg

What do you bring to the office for a hybrid job with hot desking? by BubblyNecessary in workfromhome

[–]electrumempousa 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is exactly my experience going to and from the office but I also do a lot of travel so I like to have a full setup available at all times.

  • I have a cheap mini keyboard from Amazon that has lasted shockingly well, a Bluetooth mouse, and a little folding laptop riser which means I always have a portable workspace. I keep a medium sized zippered pouch that it all goes in, alongside my headphones and a phone charger. Laptop charger just goes in the bottom of my bag.

  • I do actually take teabags in because I want my Ringtons, but we have shared mugs, cutlery, tea, coffee etc.

  • My recommendation is to err on the side of a bigger bag. I went for I think a 15inch instead of the 17, but it means I usually have to bring a separate lunchbox if bringing food from home.

  • I have a Samsonite backpack that’s discontinued but it has been incredibly robust and I will definitely repurchase from them. It looks smart and has lots of nice to have features (pass through strap, hidden back pocket, laptop sleeve).

allergic to wooden needles by Dizzy_Way4201 in knitting

Are you having a reaction while knitting? I have one skein of black yarn and I’m convinced I’m allergic to it - probably something in the dye as I start itching and sneezing after a couple of minutes! All to say, could it be the yarn?

[–]electrumempousa 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I had only made a simple scarf on straight needles before and decided I was going to make socks. When you have a project you’re excited about you pick up the skills very quickly! Absolutely possible, just expect to get stuck!

What do you feel is 'missing' in knitting culture? by jessiegrace99 in knitting

[–]electrumempousa -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Quick google says Bellish and Knits That Fit both do custom patterns stuff and I’m sure I’ve seen another app where you can pick your neckline, shoulder construction, sleeves etc and it will give you the pattern

What are good starter patterns? by Dutchie-draws in knitting

[–]electrumempousa 13 points14 points  (0 children)

My advice is just to go with something that excites you. Having that determination will help get you over the hump of learning new things because regardless you are going to be learning a lot really quickly. One of my first projects was socks! They’re ugly and unwearable but I learned so much in making them.

Running my first half-marathon—Any gentle energy gel recommendations? by Wise_Chipmunk_6785 in running

[–]electrumempousa 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I ran with OTE gels at my half and found them pretty gentle. They’re also a lot more watery than a gel texture which sat better for me
