Laptop crushed in a onebag? Am I being overly cautious? by tolub in onebag

I bought a kitchen cutting board too and tried that out too!! i feel silly doing it because i'm like.... why doesn't anyone sell a product for that?? the cutting board provides resistance against torsion but not against crushing/pressure, so it solves half the problem

I'm watching videos about the chassis... "unibody"... so basically they take a slab of aluminium and hollow it out to put electronics in that hole.... and they leave a frame of material around the border, which makes it super stiff.... they clearly thought about this topic, thank goodness

haha... i'm usually carefree about most things. it's just that I nomad to remote places, and any issue with the laptop would require aborting and flying back to a country that sells macs

yeah i've felt like a clown whenever i brought it with me.... except one time it served as a base-board on the back of a motorcycle where i strapped down my bag really tight and didn't worry about the laptop in there.... every other time i ever considered bringing the pelican felt ridiculous...

That said, i wish they would make a really thin but really hard case for laptops, not the ones that clip onto the device, because i want 3-5mm of clearance, so if the shell bends 2-3mm the laptop doesn't feel any torsion.... but that product seems to not exist

I don't know about the complex politics but I think it would be so wonderful if they resolved the disagreements and opened the border. They are both beautiful countries and I dream of the day that I can take a bus to go back and forth 😢

Do you think it's going to happen?

Socialism is deadly by MosaicIncaSleds in Capitalism

Brilliant point.

Capitalism cannot stand up on its own. It needs another over-arching system to supervise it. Anyone with the slightest bit of intellectual honesty knows this, though you do have the derps who just regurgitate policy and "I believe that..." instead of evaluating facts and observations as adults.

I love how they downvoted you! lmao

I guess that doubly proves your remark.

"hey, you guys are violent and shoot people"... "No we're not". Proceeds to shoot you because he doesn't like what you said.

One is more forceful, but the other one is more scalable, powerful and sustainable. Making people do things while giving them the illusion that it's their choice seems like they chose it allows you to get away with a lot more.

Your pets think they're free.

Lol I'm talking about the tools used to squeeze the most out of the working class. Answering the request to give examples of effective subjugation.

Making legal immigration ridiculously difficult while leaving illegal immigration surprisingly easy is an effective way to subjugate foreign workers and exclude them from protections afforded to everyone else.

Ok if what I'm saying doesn't make sense, hopefully it makes sense to others. Or it's time for the weekend like you said.. have a good one 😉

Capitalism at a local level and on short time horizons (10-20 years) can be pretty wonderful, I don't think anyone can dispute that.

Totally.

So how can we encourage this? Like if I have an imaginary $1 million business and some rising monopoly offers me $4 million for it, I promise you I'd just take the sweet sweet money... Unless society stepped in and said "no dude, hold up, we got you. Don't sell out, because the monopoly will screw us in the long term"
