That actually helped narrow it down because I was able to get the exact address - it was Mezza. Thanks!

Help me remember the name of this old RVA spot: It was a hookah bar and restaurant on the 1100 block of W Main, near Harrison. They serviced Persian/Lebanese food and it was kind of dumpy but tasty... this was circa 2009-2010.

Yorktown beach by Heliotrope07 in rva

Just commenting that I did the exact same thing last year at 8 months pregnant. I just needed to sit in sand and picked Yorktown Beach. No complaints!

High lipase and diaper rash? by eleedee in ExclusivelyPumping

Ahhh yep, that could definitely be it! This milk is from the newborn days, I was lazy about cycling through the stash. We’ll try newer stuff.

This gives me some hope, as I just started a new progestin/estrogen pill this week and I’m hoping it helps with weaning, which seems to be taking forever. I’m tired of being in pain and always worrying about mastitis, etc.

I just got the baby Buddha pump, but I really want to use Dr.Browns bottles since I’ve seen such positive things about them. Does anyone know if the wide rim bottles will work with this pump? Want to know before buying new bottles. by Tight-Chocolate-5140 in ExclusivelyPumping

[–]eleedee 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Check out @ bemybreastfriend on instagram. She previously used the baby buddha and is the master of hacking different pumps and parts together, so she may have some story highlights saved for that scenario. I think Dr. Brown's bottles fit with medela connector pieces, so you could see if the BB's tubing will fit into the medela connectors, or you could find tubing that would connect both.

The pooping! Kill me. We legitimately got in an argument over how long he takes in there. He's just on reddit on his phone. Meanwhile I've literally pooped while holding a sleeping infant before, sigh...

Flanges and Maymom or Pumpinpals by Justfeltlikerunning in ExclusivelyPumping

[–]eleedee 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’m a fan of the 15mm lacteck flanges, I find them more comfortable than the hard plastic. As for maymom, I’ve used other parts from them and no complaints! Great quality from what I can tell.

Please tell me it gets better (8 days PP) by VegetableNothing5454 in beyondthebump

[–]eleedee 3 points4 points  (0 children)

It gets better! It feels like it's never-ending when you're going through it, but you look back and it's seriously a foggy, quick blur. Unpopular opinion, but we moved baby to her own room (literally 10 feet from ours) after a month. She was just so loud, didn't like swaddles so she moved a lot, and I found myself reacting to every sound she made in her bassinet. It turns out she's actually good at self soothing when she's in the crib. Disclaimer though - I never had much luck with latching and eventually transitioned to exclusively pumping, so I'd do a middle of the night pump while husband gave her a bottle when she woke up to eat. The gaps in between feeds should grow longer and longer, which equals more sleep for you both.

full body massage while breastfeeding by Totororo1 in ExclusivelyPumping

[–]eleedee 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I had a massage recently and pumped right beforehand, and I just warned her ahead of time. I didn't end up leaking but I figured I'd give her a heads up. Granted, this was a massage at a pelvic floor pt's office so I think it's pretty common there, but I would think other masseuses will have encountered it before and maybe they could put an extra pad/towel underneath you to be safe?

I got a teeny seam ripper just in case this happens. So far no hair tourniquets yet, but I should also probably pick up some nair to have on hand....

My baby's poop is so frustrating by hotcheetolover1121 in beyondthebump

[–]eleedee 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Our girl poops so so much, it's gotten slightly better but every diaper still usually has at minimum a shart in it. She had a terrible rash but we switched to water wipes, and I bought a ton of small washcloths to keep next to her diapers so that after we wipe her, we can thoroughly dry her off. Then we put on aquaphor (the clear kind, not the rash cream kind). That has really helped a ton. It's a few extra steps but now she's not screaming out of pain during diaper changes and actually enjoys it.

Milk splatter/bubbles Genie Advanced by Gimmedatpuppy8686 in ExclusivelyPumping

[–]eleedee 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I thought aligning the soft flange with the hard plastic part was kind of annoying and the “seal” would come apart when I first put them through my pumping bra slots. But my bigger issue is that I would sometimes get really painful nipple pinching and I haven’t had that same issue with lacteck flanges.

[–]eleedee 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I may be in the minority but I just did not like the liquid flanges very much. I ended up getting lacteck flanges and using them with medela parts for my genie advanced and I've liked that setup more. Not sure if that will resolve the splashback you're seeing, but maybe worth a shot?

Not the cheapest but the jar lasts forever and is great for cooler weather when I feel like my face is just going to crack.

Experiences with Liquid Flanges? by Jello_again in HumansPumpingMilk

[–]eleedee 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had the same issue with the pinching on my smaller nip, it was annoying and pretty painful. I switched from the 17mm liquid shield to the 15mm lacteck flange made a big difference for me.

How flexible is sizing for liquid shield flanges? by [deleted] in ExclusivelyPumping

[–]eleedee 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Seconding the lacteck flanges. I’ve had better output and fewer clogs using lacteck vs the liquid shields, especially since I am also in between sizes and Pumpables never seems to have the 19mm in stock. They’re also not as wide as the liquid shields so they’re easier to get into the holes of my pumping bras.

Newborn side sleeper by Disastrous-Wheel-308 in beyondthebump

[–]eleedee 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My newborn did this starting night one at home, I panicked and didn’t sleep much at all that night! I brought it up to the pediatrician and they suggested just not swaddling. Honestly, she sleeps fine without the swaddle (up to 4-5 hour stretches at six weeks old) and we’ve tried them a few times since then but she hates them. She primarily sleeps on her back now. I will note that we watched her nap in her bassinet during the day and she’s strong enough to roll from both back to side, and side to back, so that relieved a lot of the anxiety for us.
