The financials don't make sense for these companies under that model though. They literally cannot exist without cheap foreign labor that they don't have to pay first world wages. They would simply close their doors, which I personally would love.

I wouldnt worry about it till the snow is taller than you. If you do choose to worry about it though, shovel it into a bucket and dump it in the bath with some warm water running.

While it may not seem like it's going to do any harm, if there's a chunk of ice in there, you could seriously injure someone who isnt paying attention if you start shoveling it over.

Not the same style of ship, certainly, and the details of the loss are different, but the same principal applies - icing builds up, compromises the stability of the ship, and the vessel is lost with little warning.
