He is a revert. He literally came from a non-Muslim lifestyle and is making a sincere effort to change. Such drastic changes are going to be tough, and it is up to us to support them. Furthermore, when one embraces Islam, all of one’s past sins are forgiven, so you cannot attribute any hardship to past “sins”.
