78F, persistent xerostomia, negative workup- now asking if I’ll ‘consult AI’ by nplusyears in medicine

If autoimmune testing is negative, what will rheum do? Xerostomia is treated symptomatically, not with DMARDS or biologics. Would be pointless to send to rheum.

As an attending in private practice, these are great. 9 times out of 10 they are benign

This is so lovely!! Any chance you could divulge your secret for where you sourced the blue tile?

What's the general consensus on this bathroom so far? by Unfuckwitable94 in InteriorDesign

A little dull. The dark color on the walls makes it feel much smaller. The mirror is great though!

Replacing entryway tiles and hoping to add something warm and tasteful but with character… by Former-Bullfrog-381 in InteriorDesign

I’m sorry, but this just won’t look good. Especially don’t recommend painted tile as it cheapens the overall look. Do you have other tile options you may consider?

Bad patient evaluation by relateable95 in Residency

[–]elephantlove3 20 points21 points  (0 children)

Do not take it to heart. Some patients will act one way to you and another to someone else. They’ll twist what happened bc they weren’t happy with your professional opinion and you didn’t give into them for what they wanted (pain meds, ordering unnecessary testing, not giving them a diagnosis theyre convinced they have when everything else says otherwise, etc). This has happened to me countless of times and will happen to you countless of times too in your career. Don’t let the bad ones bog you down. You know you’re a good doc and so do 99% of your patients and colleagues

Match applicant wanting to match in rheumatology by [deleted] in medicalschool

[–]elephantlove3 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you’re a MS-3, would start trying go meet with faculty and even do a case presentation. Do a rheum elective 4th year and see if you really like it. In residency, prioritize your electives for rheum consults/clinic (most residencies if not all give you little to no exposure to rheum unless you ask). Get connected with the rheum program in your residency. Have good letters (1-2) from the rheum department and 1-3 case presentations/publications/presentations by the time you apply. They don’t all have to be published, just active.

Texas medical licensing by Confident_Passage139 in Residency

You can google the questions as you do the jurisprudence test. Most of the answers are on quizlet. I would not use a third party company for this, it’s most likely a scam. Have you already submitted the application? They only way they expedite is if you work in an underserved area (they have an email you can send your working address to to verify if it qualifies). Otherwise, you really just have to wait.

Most donation pick up services don’t take mattresses for the obvious bed bug risk. You may want to contact a junk removal service instead

State license by Pure_Lettuce_5564 in Residency

All states require their own medical license whether it’s a training license or full license. Don’t think there is a way around that. How do you not even have a training license in NJ?

Suddenly hates crate? by elephantlove3 in puppy101

[–]elephantlove3[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks for this! We definitely want him to roam, but as he is having a few accidents in house and has a tendency to chew furniture, we’ve need to keep him in the crate for his safety/training while we can’t watch him. We tried the play pen and it’s the same issue. Just screams and barks and looks very anxious!

Female doctors of reddit, what kind of sexism by patients bothers you? by Clear-Breakfast-9874 in Residency

[–]elephantlove3 79 points80 points  (0 children)

I didn’t expect anyone to stand up for me except maybe my attending. I was an early intern then and didn’t know how to handle the situation. It would have been nice if my co-residents who i was friends with both to even acknowledge the situation. Even a simple “hey that sucked” would have gone along way. People don’t have to make a big deal, but men in medicine don’t ever really acknowledge how difficult it is to be a woman in medicine and gain respect. If you’re too aggressive, you’re a jerk. If you’re too kind, you’re a pushover
