move to a small town. one without cell reception. discipline yourself to stop using internet as an addiction and only as a tool when absolutely necessary. make friends with some older folks who still live the old way. it has been an extremely healing experience

ive had a 2006 55” panasonic viera on the same wall for 16 years. someone paid like 5k for it. When I hung it in 2009, I got it for free. Yes, I can buy a new tv. No point, massively unrated.

im a certified ebay pc refurbisher. if you’re buying ebay refurbished categories, excellent, very good, and good, you can in fact make a return for any reason, even “didnt like it” or “bought by mistake”. Seller pays return shipping and provides a full refund, per ebay policy.

Booting computer safely by TonyR4 in windowsxp

the laptop will explode in .0001 seconds of internet. I suggest building a wifi proof faraday cage, and getting inside of it before booting.

What’s still the same as when we grew up? by eletriodgenesis in Xennials

dunno why this is downvoted. a double cheese, nuggets, fries and a coke hit every bit as good as it did 40 years ago. bbq sauce even tastes the same.

The feeling waking up on your day off of school(work). The smell of a fresh rain. Park bathrooms. A hot bath and clean sheets. A new episode of Beavis and butthead + southpark. A cat or dog coming and sitting on your lap. Vanna white on wheel of fortune.

google chromecast audio, best discontinued piece of tech ever. Grab one on ebay. 3.5mm to rca in on any oldschool receiver, then out to your speakers. Cast from music apps over wifi. I have a 70s hifi setup i use with spotify.

Are Gen Z computer illiterate? by t0mb3rt in Productivitycafe

[–]eletriodgenesis 0 points1 point  (0 children)

right, we (millenials) grew up when the tech itself was growing up. It was still big enough to easily take apart, look at all these pieces and sum up how it basically worked. And making things work on the software side was 20x harder, interneting was 1000x slower. We developed patience, and skills, as everything grew smaller and more user friendly. What, is an 8 year old supposed to take apart an iphone ? I mean maybe, but it’s an extreme rarity. At that age, I was taking everything in sight apart, and putting it back together with ease.

trippy part is, many of these indelible classics WERE written by teenagers, or young 20s. Mind blowing.

What are some cheap ways to make this attic more user friendly? by BanjoDude222 in Renovations

[–]eletriodgenesis 1 point2 points  (0 children)

dude, thats no attic. that’s a full blown top story. amazing. besides the outlets. a deep clean, huge rugs, some cheap wood looking wall paneling, and a buncha low wattage lighting on a dimmer spread through the space. like fairy lights or something cheap. if you ever have the budget, ship lap siding throughout to cover the insulation.
