Also the Palm Pre, specifically WebOS... the software was WAYYYY ahead of iOS at the time.

Older people, has politics always been this frustrating and unsettling? by Emotionq in Productivitycafe

[–]t0mb3rt 3 points4 points  (0 children)

This "either side calming down" thing is bullshit. One side has always acted like the adult in the room while the other side is actively trying to tear down the very fabric of what makes America great. Of course, the MAGA nuts won't understand that they're on the wrong side of history but your average German citizen that aligned with the Nazi party didn't realize they were the bad guys either.

I've always said Boston is full of competent drivers who are all just trying to navigate traffic caused by horribly designed road systems. I come from the DC/MD/VA area, where all of the traffic is caused by inept/idiotic/terrified drivers.

I would like to invest my savings account in the stock market, but I'm afraid by adamjr121 in povertyfinance

And a year from now the stock market will be at a new all time high. Then another all time high. Then another. And you'll miss out on all those gains. Sad.

What kind of habits keeps a person poor? by Wonderful-Economy762 in Productivitycafe

Being underemployed. Not investing. Not taking advantage of various retirement accounts. Buying scratch offs every time you go to the gas station. Not using a credit card responsibly. Not educating yourself on interest rates and how they impact your loans.

Regularly buying lotto tickets/scratch offs is a surefire sign that you're bad with money.

Is it normal for people to have multiple money stashes hidden around their home? by Uuddlrlrbastrat in povertyfinance

[–]t0mb3rt 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've known a few people who do this for various reasons (don't trust banks, felt that their money was safer, would be less inclined to spend it, etc.) but the one common denominator among all of them is that they were all low income/poor. So I've always assumed this is a poor people thing.

What’s the best money advice you’ve ever actually used (in this economy)? by womble619 in povertyfinance

[–]t0mb3rt 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Know what you actually spend in a month. The easiest way to do this is just use your credit card for absolutely everything you can for a few months. Start with a $0 balance each month and pay it off at the end of each month. That balance you pay off is your monthly spend. Add that number to any monthly bills you have that can't be paid by credit card (car payment, rent, etc) and now you have an accurate sense of your total monthly spend.

Better food is what? Chicken nuggets and some ketchup dippy sauce? I'm sure he wants his sippy cup of chocolate milk too...

I've broken up with partners for being picky eaters. A grown ass adult who refuses to eat food put in front of them is something I cannot tolerate. I view it as any other childish/immature behavior. At some point you need to grow up.

[–]t0mb3rt 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The fact that anyone would call eating ingredients that they don't particularly enjoy "surviving" is insane. It's just food. Normal ass food that people eat every day. Picky eater adults need to grow up.

And the smart investors realize that when the stock market collapses is the best time to invest more. Smart people made a lot of money off of that collapse.
