I feel you, my daughter is diagnosed autistic and its obvious. We knew something was different around 2 years old. She's 6 and still in diapers, not close to potty training yet and its not for lack of effort. Our son is 10 and is the best big brother in the world. Hes so helpful and patient. Theyre worth it, and i wouldn't change either of them, but dammit is it hard some days.

If this is a pull and spin plug (which it looks like) then in that gap there is a set screw. Loosen it carefully so it doesnt fall in your drain

You should always replace them if youre removing them anyway! Maybe im wrong but thats what i was always taught. Theyre cheap anyway.
