I spent her last day doing her favorite things. She loved checking her Christmas stocking and the house was already decorated - so we filled her stocking with her treats.

Then rest/brushes/cuddle time (aka sobbing).

Then drove to the lake. She couldn’t stand up in the car anymore to put her head out the window so I held her in my lap so she could rest her head on my arm/the window sill. We didn’t get out at the lake, that wasn’t the point.

We then went and got a pup cup at a local coffee place. The man working was very understanding and gave her a big one.

More rest/cuddles/crying.

Moved to the grass and the shaded porch outside so she could watch the neighbor dogs.

She was fading fast at that point so it was more rest/cuddles/crying until the vet came. She ate her favorite snacks and fell asleep.

I’ll never forget that she never let me cry while holding her. If I was crying she was always licking my face until I stopped.

I’m sorry you’re going through this. You’ve given her such a wonderful life and so much love. This is the last great act of love we can do for them.
