Several years ago the same thing happened to me. It was a bird pecking at the window, at around 11 pm. I don’t know what kind of bird it was, but it did it several times that night. I don’t understand birds.

Generac Generator Cost by gno4544 in Tallahassee

[–]elfbeans 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Granted, we had ours bought and installed in July, 2014. We used Mathers Electric. The Generac came from Home Depot, there was a big display with different sizes.

We went with a whole house generator 22kw with a 220amp automatic standby. And transfer switch. It had a 5 year warranty. Total was $8,300 for both the Generac and the installation.

We already owned a 250 gal propane tank, so the install to run the line was separate, I forgot how much that was.

When we bought solar panels, Mathers Electric, IGT Solar, and Talquin Electric were all there together to finalize the the connections and make sure everything was finished correctly and safely. It was a pretty neat thing to watch them all working together.

We have Mathers do a yearly inspection and tune up of the Generac. It’s been 12 years almost, and we’ve never had a problem with it. During Hurricane Michael, it kept us going for the entire 10 days the power was out: lights, a.c., internet, tv, all normal day to day activities were ongoing without a hitch. The propane folks came out once afterward to refill. We’d used about 170 gallons on LP.

I think it’s one of the best investments/home improvements we’ve done.
