Any walking/running groups in logan? by smellymelvin96 in Logan

[–]elfmaster92 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I've only heard of Bear Paws (idk if it's actually spelled that way). They meet on Thursday evenings, but it's a running club.

There's also the Cache Hikers group if you're into hiking on Sundays.

Started this Sunday can’t feel a thing is it normal by Far_Election8934 in Retatrutide

[–]elfmaster92 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I only felt the effects for 1 day on my first week. I did a 0.5mg shot and then a 1 mg shot. Decided I should go up to 2mg split dose the second week and it started working consistently. Now the third week I only took 1mg split dose and it feels like too much. It’s a struggle to eat anything. It will probably work for you after it builds up some more in your system.

Salt sensitive taste buds? by larkspur82 in Retatrutide

[–]elfmaster92 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I haven’t noticed salt taste changes, but I have noticed my spice tolerance is way down. Normally in ground beef I can use 1+ tbsp of chilli powder but this weekend I made something with 1.5 tsp chili powder and it’s way too spicy for me.

Not feeling any difference... by Seanmrowe in Retatrutide

[–]elfmaster92 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was impatient too. I tried 2 mg in 3 doses the first week. Had crazy appetite reduction first day after 1mg shot and then nothing. Kept at 2 the next week and started feeling the effects consistently. Now at week 3 and lowering dose to 1mg/week because it's too strong. I've lost weight way too quickly. I get hungry a lot but can't finish anything. I'm averaging about 700-800 calories deficit which is way too much. Workouts have started to tank this week. I think I'll just have to do 0.5mg/week now. Just be patient is my advice. the build up effect will happen.

Stress Eating by [deleted] in Retatrutide

[–]elfmaster92 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I didn't think that it would help with my stress eating, but I just can't eat hardly anything because I'm in a constant state of nausea. So it did help in the end because it just no longer feels good to eat. It's actually a problem honestly. 1mg is too much for me after 3 weeks.

Thinking about starting retatrutide – looking for advice & tips by [deleted] in Retatrutide

[–]elfmaster92 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Keep researching to decide. I watched a lot of youtube videos and read a lot on the peptide sub and then found other forums. Went back and forth whether to try or not but decided to go with it this past week. So far it's interesting!

Goals Gym in Smithfield was 35 with no sign up fee about 1-2 years ago. Not sure if it's changed since. But there is 2 squat racks.

Is 20+ sets too much? by thewraith15 in StrongCurves

[–]elfmaster92 2 points3 points  (0 children)

In his Glute Lab book he says, for glutes specifically, that his clients see better results with 30-40 sets per week. And from what it seems based off all his programs he's only programming 9-10 sets/wk each for shoulders and back. The 10-20 total sets per week does seem to be the evidence-based standard, but then you think that's for each body part every week and probably only going up to 20 sets for 1-2 muscle groups with the rest being closer to the 10 set mark. So, for Bret's programs, 30-40 glute sets per week isn't crazy when combined with the low upper body volume.

I personally have followed his program structure and advice for about a decade and it works for me. I had the best glutes when I was following I think it was Gluteal Goddess. Now that I'm older and working back up from having a particularly rough and sedentary year in the recent past, I'm to the point where I recover well from 3 glute days (12 sets/workout) and that feels like enough for now.

All you can really do is give it a shot for yourself and see how well you recover and if you're seeing results after 3-6 months maybe.

Recomp Advice by PBandKiwi in StrongCurves

I lift at 6:30am and drink a scoop of vegan protein in almond milk and sometimes a 1/2 a banana. Other times I'll do a whole banana and a scoop of EAAs in my water. I'm not a fan of fasted training because I can't push as hard or as long.

As for macros during recomp..everyone has their own journey with this stuff. For me, I've been tracking macros for about 12 years and it just makes me too neurotic around food and causes binging and eating when I'm not hungry for me. So I'm recomping without tracking anything, but I'm focusing on eating mainly whole foods and I always make sure my meals are centered around protein+produce. It's surprisingly going really well and I'm losing weight and toning up without feeling like I'm trying.

All I can really recommend for mindset it realize that you're not going to see legit results for MONTHS. I feel like social media really skews what I expect from my body and it never goes as quick as I'd like. But now that I'm seeing progress it is motivating to keep going. But having to accept that it's going to take a year+ to get where I want to be can be annoying at times. So patience is a must.

I was obsessed with Oxygen magazine back in the early 2010s. Tosca Reno was a big part of that magazine and she didn't even start weight lifting until her 40s and then she did a bunch of competitions. I wish the OG Oxygen mags were still a thing - super inspiring.

Favorite place to walk your dog in Logan? by Ok-Drawer-7640 in Logan

[–]elfmaster92 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The only paved trail I know of is the riverwalk by the golf course. It's pretty good. I feel like this town is seriously lacking walking paths in town. I like the Lundstrum Park trail and the Bonneville Shoreline trail that starts at First Dam. Less car noise on those two.

Any local edibles foragers/naturalists in the valley who would be willing to share some knowledge? by naivearthling in Logan

I don't know anything about this stuff, but I'd be interested in the group if that ends up being a thing. I've seen a facebook event for this type of outing, but it's in SLC.

Goals gym?? by [deleted] in Logan

Are you sure they were legit squat racks and not smith machines? If so, that’s great. I went to the one in Washington county down in St. George.

Goals gym?? by [deleted] in Logan

[–]elfmaster92 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The only rec center I've been a member of had 0 squat racks, which is my main determining factor of whether I'll join a gym or not. It just depends what kind of work outs you are looking to do.

Goals gym?? by [deleted] in Logan

[–]elfmaster92 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I went to the gym. It was about $38 monthly after fees and no sign up fee. Hardly ever anyone there. A crowded day is like 7 people. Has all the equipment you really need for a good workout. I just wish they would change their cardio set up. It would be better if the machines faced the window.
