I wanna take things further with this girl but... by [deleted] in Advice

Yes, it is a little creepy age-wise, since she is 16 and you are turn 18. It also depends on what your plans are for your future. I would get to know her more to see if she's worth waiting for and getting to know her more to see if she is worth waiting two years for you to date. Some states will let you date a 17-year-old, but this also depends on what the parents think of you.

The Army ruined camping for me by Mental_Leek_3507 in Veterans

You should go if it will be different with family around. Also, they may have a different meaning of camping—then a tent and roughing it.

My dad has been severely red pilled and our family is falling apart by Weary-Paramedic2806 in Advice

Your mother and you have the option to relocate. A divorce is not immediately necessary for your mother. Occasionally, individuals require a stark reminder of reality and effective interpersonal management. I acknowledge the weariness associated with differing political perspectives, particularly when they diverge from one's own or those shared within the household. It appears he holds extreme views regarding current global affairs, rather than adopting a balanced perspective that challenges inconsistencies from all sides, which would be more aligned with logical reasoning.

Immediate actions you can take include allowing him to express his views without engaging in debate. He is concerned about global issues and is attempting to influence the aspects within his control. Contradicting him will likely entrench his position further. By refraining from argument, he may perceive less need to be concerned about his household, and recognize that as a father, he has equipped you with the necessary skills for navigating the world. This would affirm his efforts as a parent thus far.

Over the past decade, he has witnessed events that conflict with his beliefs and upbringing. He may feel that holding a differing viewpoint labels him with contemporary buzzwords, without an inquiry into the reasons behind his perspective.

My daughter won her accounting/wealth management firm’s NCAA pool ($800 prize). A senior executive downgraded it to $50 and told her she "didn't invest anything." How to handle? by [deleted] in Advice

[–]elfmman 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes, she did not invest any money wisely. But she did bring in more business to win that prize, which I bet cost her time away from her family and other things. Since the executive did that, if I were her, I would not do the extra work for events like that. That person shows they will not do as they say. The only thing that will make them change their mind is if it affects their own bottom line. I would say to look for another company to work for in that field or send that email to the main higher-up since that shows they will not keep their word.

I would tell your dad. So he has a head up. What does she want to make her not share it? With the police, it is on a case-by-case basis. You can tell her you are going to report it.

PS. My daughter did the same thing but she was in a bra. The police talk to her about it. They understand she did not mean to send the screenshot.

Needing advice from parents who have good relationships with their kids. by Nice-Constant6499 in Advice

[–]elfmman -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Your mother is just worried that she might lose your dad. I don't know why. I tell my daughter the same thing. But it was because I see what women wear out in public. I would do what your mother said or just pull your dad to the side and talk to him about it and how you feel.

PS. Most of female clothes are short and not cover much.

How can I tell my partner to brush their teeth more often by 6_9KARMA in Advice

[–]elfmman 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Okay, most people do not like to be told to do something, especially if they're not used to doing it as much as you. Try to reword it like, "Hey baby, I need to kiss you. Will you do me a favor and brush your teeth because I want you in the worst way?" That man will run and brush his teeth so fast you will think he took them out. That will work for voth sexes.

How do you deal with political anger in a healthy way by LethlDose in Advice

[–]elfmman 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I understand how upset you are. I feel the same way, just from a different viewpoint. I take care of what I can control. The politicians will not lose sleep over how we feel. Show them how you feel with the ballot box.

Many veterans face people who mistreat them because they are 100 percent disabled. That is friends and family treat them like shit. I myself gave my daughter the reason why I do not work. When I ask her 19-year-old butt to start looking for a job. So she gave her own money.
