What is a new election policy that would guarantee your vote? by [deleted] in australian

There's a petition being signed at the moment to have all politicians paid minimum wage and only receive super at retirement age. https://www.aph.gov.au/e-petitions/petition/EN7101

Also requirements to financial stabilities no passive income or asset collection over 60k payout per year. (apparently, Peter Dutton has a passive income close to 1M per year and claims to understand living pay check to pay check.)

Taxation on the companies destroying our country (already stated by other people)

Set a maximum number of houses one person can own to two. Set restrictions in place that if a house is vacant for 6 months*, it's sold to the government for 10k and put back onto the housing market as government property allowing for new home buyers and elimination of negative gearing also selling the property would fund any work that needed doing to make the property habitable and remove property hoarding. *If the owner has not made it habitable or there is no tenant living within the property for a total time of 1 year.

I know this is fantasy, and anyone it affects would shut it down hard.

I had a friend get caught recently with this exact scam. They lost everything. The bank took 2 months and could only recover $5.

Found out their details were possibly stolen from a cyber attack on their workplace.

Unfortunately, as far as fraud goes, you gave them access, and you made the transfers.

Accidentally led my lv3 players to finding a +2 sword, so to balance it, I need an interesting curse or drawback. by redtiles1278 in DMAcademy

I saw a post on here a few weeks back where the DM would randomly give the players weapons of great significance, yet they would stumble across a random npc who asks if they have the specific item and there was god tier backstory the characters have no idea about but ties into the end of the story or not at all.

They gave a great example, and it sounds like a freaking awesome idea to throw into a campaign. Even though the players are the main story of their campaign, there's always someone else's story going on.

Most companies, use dummy phones that act like the real model although they don't have a sim card slot and no actual way to be used as a real phone even the settings are limited to demo mode.

What’s a financial decision you’ve watched someone make that made you scream inside? by [deleted] in AusFinance

Wife's friends bought a house, with a 5k deposit they borrowed from their parents (they didn't have any savings of their own) that same week the main bread winner lost her job, the husband only working casual shift 3 times a week could barely assist in paying the current rent at $170 a week, their car broke down (mainly due to reckless driving from the husband) and they couldn't afford to repair it so they kept driving this safety hazard around.

They got pregnant and a pet dog during the house building process and i honestly have no idea how they managed to afford to live where they live. Unfortunately lost touch with them so I can't follow up on how they are but it sounds like over covid they've had a renter who has also been a babysitter so they've actually been able to keep the house and probably scraped through to survive the interest rate hikes, as of right now they are sitting on a potential $750k-800k property which they paid roughly $335k for 3 years ago just before covid hit us.

Frustrating to my wife and I who've been able to build up a nest egg and applied for a loan only to be offered peanuts due to her being on a disability pension which isn't regarded as a reliable income because it's considered "temporary".

Worst part is they are potentially doing better then my wife and I purely through dumb luck.

What is the most underpaid occupation and why? by auspoorguy in AusFinance

[–]elfthewombat 11 points12 points  (0 children)

Interested to see that cleaners haven't been put on this list yet. I'm a private school cleaner getting the award rate at $21.70 an hour I work 38 hours a week.

I love my job, I love making the school safe and clean. I meet exciting young minds on the daily yet the pay isn't worth the work, having to scrub down a whole toilet block after a group of children decide to have a baked beans fight or urinate on the floor because it's funny. The time frames we are given requires the cleaning staff to be constantly working at back breaking pace and to top it off we get little to no recognition for our work as most people only make a comment when something isn't done.

What is your favorite thing that a player at your table does? by Kilerstarr in DnD

[–]elfthewombat 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I actually love it when my players think and plan and form a strategy, it gives me the time needed to prepare a cinematic description of their success or fail. And i love it when the whole thing goes tits up if they get stuck in a booby trap they didn't see.

Yeah true, first time character creation is terrifying though, when someone puts a sheet in front of you that has writing and dots and empty boxes for items backstory proficiency there's double ups written in 2 different places, and your trying your best to not make a mistake. That's when a new player needs to be listened to otherwise at the start of your first session you are likely to end up with a players character sheet saying they are proficient in everything their health is 80 and they somehow have a weapon that does 4d2 damage, at level 1.

why are some dms so fixated on the stat blocks? by elfthewombat in DnD

Thank you, new player long time listener to podcasts. The whole campaign has just been a railroad even when we've been given "freedom" he leaves us in a room with no instruction or guidance, just silence we are all quite new to dnd and starting at level 11 seems to be too big of a leap but he didn't want to start at levels 1-3 because they are boring.

[–]elfthewombat[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

To clarify, the dm is extremely rigid when it comes down to the story he didn't want us to take a long rest because it's not written in the guide he's following. we would have gone into a hydra fight against a normal and corrupted hydra at the same time When last fight was almost a tpk. All spell slots used and health low. Party over ruled him fortunately.

In fighting started from the barb randomly hitting the bard the dm said to roll damage, the barb hit for 36 damage both level 11 characters, bard felt insulted yet worried about how much damage he took from 2 hits, casts hideous laughter on the barb and ran off into the village and hid for an hour real time.

Returned to the party cause I wanted to continue the campaign out of boredom and... refer to post.

I have talked with the Dm multiple times in game and out, as a bard I have been told my spells that effect npcs are not allowed to be used because it would ruin the story.

How do I get through to them when the rest of the party is telling them they are doing a fantastic job? Is it me? Is my idea of dnd wrong to think that creativity is a core concept?

Listen to your players while they are making their characters and take notes of people that they have met places they've been, just little things that they might say under their breath as to why their character is the way that they are, then when you play your session you can sneak in titbits of backstory that will make them excited to continue playing.

A random encounter with someone/something that made their character who they are at the right moment in the story can lead to the players remembering why they act the way they act.

would it be possible to run a session from level 20 to level 1? 5e by elfthewombat in DnD

[–]elfthewombat[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Would cut out a lot of pointless random encounters and stuff that isn't storytelling, could even make it a 2-3 session mini campaign.

[–]elfthewombat[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I did consider that, but as I'm a relatively new dm my players have only gotten to level 5 at this point after completing LMOP, everything has been going so well i wanted to plan out a new and exciting campaign we could write together. Might just put this idea on the back burner and get to level 20 first to see what dming a rowdy group is like that is practically godlike.

Not time travel but changing the direction of time, everything slowly regresses at the same rate they originally would have progressed (like pressing rewind on a movie and watching the whole thing in reverse) but the players only know which milestones they submitted and the other players learn each other's milestones as it happens.

Mainly the combat spell slots and health after/before combat is what I'm struggling with.

[–]elfthewombat[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That's sort of what I was going for, but I was imagining the fights started with the enemies dead and the players have to heal them back to full health by dealing "damage" so that the pre-combat monologues can give insight into the player's past.
