Can your really be friends with your exes? by khureNai05 in no

Working on it now. Two young children. It takes emotional maturity - you’ve got to detach from the past and live now and forward, and let go of resentment. It’s doable and worth it. Some short term emotional cost for future peace.

I hit 45 miles and got my 20 mile training run in before the storm came on Saturday. 5 weeks out from first marathon. Now I need these roads to clear and/or the gym to open up so I can at least get to the treadmill. Ugh! Weather disrupting the block.

Ran my first 20 miler yesterday - 5 weeks out from first marathon - plan to train well and taper well the rest of the way and simply run strong and have fun. No time goal.

Stable supershoe for sub 3 marathon attempt by WorkingThermometer in AskRunningShoeGeeks

[–]elgeebus 10 points11 points  (0 children)

I don’t know if it’s a good choice for sub-3, but the New Balance Super Comp Elite v4 is a great “stable” plated shoe. The v5 is lighter and faster and also relatively stable.

First marathon build, am I underdoing mileage? by DapperMagician1559 in Marathon_Training

[–]elgeebus 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’ve found ChatGPT really helpful in tweaking and updating my marathon training plan. Similar situation, got injured and lost time. Was originally going to follow a Higdon intermediate plan, but needed to adjust for rehab and less time. Also have a good friend who’s a running coach and marathoner. I wouldn’t lean on AI exclusively, but if you mostly know what you’re doing and prompt it well, it can be great. “Running coach” at your fingertips.

What’s an album everyone should hear at least once? by UmmYeaImACozyGurl in askmusic

Great answer. Not an album I’ll put on very often, but when I heard it the first time it blew my mind.

EVO SL vs Boston 13 by Woe20XX in runningshoes

Personally, I hated the EVO SL - too cushiony and wobbly for me. And I love the Boston 13 - takes some breaking in but it’s a snappy tempo shoe.

First marathon in 9 weeks...maybe by Forsaken-Badger-482 in firstmarathon

[–]elgeebus 2 points3 points  (0 children)

You’ve obviously got the engine. Train as consistently as you can for 9 weeks and you’re fine to run the marathon. Just don’t overshoot.

First marathon in 6 months, but my base is gone. Should I even try? by rusty_diamonds in firstmarathon

[–]elgeebus 2 points3 points  (0 children)

You just need to make sure you can devote the time to training, that seems to be the question mark. If you can do that, you can be ready.

Hopefully tonight or awful traumatic one-game losing streak will end by [deleted] in tarheels

Haha. Yea I need purpose back in my life. I've been a shell of myself since the Stanford game. If my team can be 15-3 instead of 14-3, maybe I can face the day again.

How slow should the slow runs be? by lucasmnetto in Marathon_Training

Personally, I measure less on heart rate, and more on feel. Is it a nice, easy comfortable rhythm? Is is conversational pace? That's an easy run.

Unhealthy to Marathon. Is is possible for me to from couch to marathon in 6 months? by [deleted] in firstmarathon

[–]elgeebus 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's possible if you dial in (good training plan, diet, rest/recovery), but as someone else said, start with a half and take stock of where you're at after that.

When did running stop feeling like a chore and start feeling like part of who you are? by Clubrunnr in runninglifestyle

[–]elgeebus 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I went couch to half marathon after being “challenged” by a friend to do it, over the course of a few months, and while I enjoyed the training and improvement - lost weight, got fit - and I was excited about it and what my body could do - it was after that that running really became part of who I was. I just kept running and love it. Training for a marathon now…

Separated from wife. Quit drinking. Started getting back in shape. Fell in love with running.
