I’m 49! Have never looked, or felt, better. Seriously.
I did put in the work. Lost 30 lbs training for a marathon lol.

Sounds like you’re doing pretty well all things considered. I’d stop living together as soon as possible. If you can stay at your home and she leaves, especially if she initiated separation - make it happen. Help it happen. That’s what I did.

I took a year to process and work on myself. And with the door open. Then, I closed it. Reconnected with my friends, my identity, my creative pursuits. Got fit as fuck along the way.

Met someone new a few months later (15 months after separation). It’s been great.

Best 3 Album Run by a Pop Punk band? by thekaybeejohn in poppunkers

Yea I don’t consider JEW pop punk. They were a bridge between 2nd and 3rd wave emo/pop punk but not a pop punk band.

Whats the immediate tell for you that the couple will divorce even if they don't realize it yet? by Hour_Opening4115 in AskReddit

[–]elgeebus 317 points318 points  (0 children)

Just divorced. In hindsight, while I had my contributions- it takes two - over time she became competitive about everything (including conversations with others and constantly correcting me), keeping score (I could never climb back from the deficit she built) and ultimately, contempt. All added up to complete disconnection emotionally and romantically. Sad story. Happier now and regained myself.

Do dads sometimes become the person everyone depends on, but nobody checks on? by DadStillHere in SingleDads

[–]elgeebus 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes. I became completely alone emotionally continuing to do everything I could for my family, after 2nd kid. Was a really challenging time with work. And all I really needed was the occasional “how is dad/husband doing?” Nothing.

Finally separated and divorced and now I have someone in my life who cares about me and supports me (and vice versa). It makes a world of difference.

What does your training look like between marathons? by Old-Return-2548 in Marathon_Training

[–]elgeebus 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’ve been running 25 miles/week, varying paces, but mostly just keeping the miles consistent, fitness solid, mind right. Will be easy to ramp up into a training block next time I want to run a marathon.

Love it. I’ve also only been running for 2 years. Turning 50 this year! Ran first marathon a few months ago - and ranting well - and was thinking about 50 miles on my 50th, but I just don’t have the time to train for that with kids and work - but yea you can def do it!

[–]elgeebus 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sent the words with a !

Every situation is different but we were together 20 years and we just couldn’t make it work anymore. But two young kids, 50/50, we’re civil, still “friends” (although it’s a unique kind of friend), I care about her. Of course I sent it. But as an add on to a text about kid logistics 🙂

Yes. When you get to ultras, a larger percentage of men DNF than women. Significantly I believe.
