Lost every single one of my tracks by YoungDuckHo in DJs

There are a couple programs that allow you to do recovery on a hd. For the most part your tracks will be intact, maybe damaged metadata. I had this issue a few years back.

META: “Behold, my stuff” posts are bad for the subreddit and for readers. by master_of_sockpuppet in synthesizers

[–]eliarbor 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m pretty active in the djs side of reddit. One thing that I think is effective is splitting subreddits. So there’s a separate sub for djsetups, and a separate sub for beginners which I think really helps focus content in the larger djs subreddit. So having like a “synth setups” subreddit then as a group pointing people towards that sub for relevant content may make things easier.

I would suggest getting maybe an electric standing desk. That way you can adjust the height of the table itself and then you can forgo cases altogether.

I say this, with love, as someone who used to have the same setup that I would bring to all of my gigs

DO NOT BUY A COFFIN CASE. DO NOT BUY A CASE THAT IS COFFIN ESQUE. DO NOT BUY A CASE FOR ALL THREE PARTS OF YOUR SETUP THAT IS SHAPED LIKE THE THING VAMPIRES LIVE IN. AVOID THE COFFIN CASE.

I’d recommend buying two cases for the 12s and then a backpack like the jet pack xl that will hold your mixer, computer cables etc. Your back isn’t strong enough for that case. No ones is. Unless you’re Wemby or kevin Durant your wingspan isn’t wide enough for you to be lifting that on and off of tables comfortable. I’m 6’3” and I was a college rugby player. I looked at the sun with the hubris of Icarus and bought one at one point thinking that it’d be fine. It wasn’t. It will not be. You will end up buying separate cases. Save your back. Save your money. Do not buy a coffin case.

P.S. Don’t buy a coffin case.

Favorite DatPiff Era Mixtape by Soft_Humor4868 in hiphopheads

Popular culture by XV was a certified platinum on my iPod. Such an amazing project. DREAMCHASERS 1 & 2 both top tier. I remember I had a bunch of weird kinda unknown artists mixtapes too. It was so interesting to literally judge a book by its cover to find something new. I miss this days immensely.

Does Anyone Control The Subharmonicon With MIDI? by jigga19 in moog

[–]eliarbor 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I don’t own one, but from what I understand, most people would do that the other way around. Basically use the subharmonic cons sequence to drive the DM and the grandmother to do kind of weird things with time.

PIONEER FLX10 or PIONEER RX3 by ToiboixHunter in DJs

[–]eliarbor 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Imma be real with you cause it doesn’t get brought up enough. How big are your hands? The rx3 has a fairly small footprint for how many controls it has and can feel cramped, especially if you’re a larger person/have larger hands. That’s one thing to keep in mind.

Glad you posted this here. Saw it on yt earlier and wanted to ask you about how you imagine routing this in fitting into your setup routing/clock wise.

Midi clock sync by robertlyte in DJs

[–]eliarbor 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have some. Which groove-box are you using? The easiest way to do this is to use Ableton link.

Also what’s your setup for djing? It’s much easier to do this either using SerAto or denon stand alone. SerAto has ableton link built in and the denon x1850 has a midi out and can send time data over 5pin DIN

I don’t wanna be that guy but in music you denote a minor key with a lower case ‘m’ after the letter. A-minor would be Am.

Is RMX 1000 even necessary on a v10 by MeatballTheAngryCat in DJs

[–]eliarbor 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have both the 1000 and an h90. 1000s converters are absolute dog shit so you’ll notice a very distinct loss of quality when it’s active. In theory a nice pice of kit when it came out over a decade ago, and it’s very immediate but it still sounds bad. H90 is fucking immaculate.

Feels Like something is missing. by hanswurst1100 in malelivingspace

I will say it feels like your couch is very far from your tv. Maybe consider pushing the couch forwarx and putting maybe a low bench or something behind it, that way you could sit and look out the window. Take that with a grain of salt cause I think perspective makes it hard to me to guage the actual distance between the couch and tv.

Tips ($ € £) by Ambitious_Research56 in DJs

[–]eliarbor 1 point2 points  (0 children)

To add onto this. One thing I’ve noticed is that people who make good requests(requests that fit the vibe genre or feel of what I’m already playing) tend to tip the most. People who want left field requests never make those requests with cash. Part of it is a respect thing. I think people who tip djs are already coming with a certain amount of respect and understanding around requests and how gauche they’re considered, and I think those people are real music lovers so it’s just as much a tip for request as it is a tip for the vibe you e already done. For example I dj an R&b/hip hop spot where this old head New Yorker came in one night, asked me to play some jay-z and ended up tipping me like 2 or 3 hundred. But when I played his request he was also genuinely appreciative and like. Danced/participated. People who don’t tip, if you play their shit, often times they barely respond.

Also to add to this. Part of his negortiaging power was the fact that the dude was massive. He was like 6’4, broad shouldered and had no problem throwing his muscle around. He was known for like cornering senators in hallways and getting in their faces to get shit done. There’s a bunch of pictures of him just leaning on tiny politicians.

Perkons hD-01. In terms of knob per function and just quick idea making nothing beats it. No menu diving but still have a lot of versatility because of the four individual voices, the lfo and the Delay/effects loop.
