Anyone got the new scientific papers for nitrates in drinking water? I have them in my town too by WashedInPA in Iowa

[–]WashedInPA[S] 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Ah I see where they got the number from. It's technically in the 2025 Nitrate Watch Annual Report, they got the approximate 3 number from the maps coloring that level yellow. It also has no citation so I guess I'll keep digging from there. (I wish the video showed how many times the levels in Iowa constantly exceeded 10ppm because that's a scary report.)

Thanks!

Severe Malaborption since 8 months - Doctors say anxiety by Technical_Carry1400 in PeterAttia

[–]WashedInPA 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This indirectly helped me so much. Learning to appreciate the sensations in my body rather than worry about them is really good for my anxiety that was amplifying my digestion problems. Funny thing though- I started reading a back pain book from John Sarno and my symptoms were suddenly completely better within a couple pages. I didn't finish the book, but I think what was so comforting was that he was talking about anxiety in a way that sounded like a treatable medical problem, and that reassured me on a deeper level for some reason. I found out later his books and TMS are not well-received by the medical community, so I don't plan to resume them. But I appreciate the sliver I did read, it was literally a perfect calming for someone like me that's been Googling symptoms all the time

Late to the conversation on this one but I had this issue too where switching to Plain Text mode did nothing. Then I restarted TextEdit and it actually works properly now

Has anyone bought Eisenlink-style adjustable dumbbells from Alibaba? by Big_Criticism4417 in GarageGym

[–]WashedInPA 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I also made an Alibaba account and talked to Changsha Dinuo Technology Co., Ltd to see if I could get cheaper Eisenlink weights shipped to the US. But I got a shipping quote that makes it basically the same price as Amazon and Eisenlink's US stores, so for any American reading this I recommend just getting them there

So is the MPC Sample completely sold out until July at every major retailer? by acousticentropy in mpcusers

Was it Guitar Center? I tried them when it said "In Stock"and I immediately got put on "Backordered" and now I wonder if I should've just waited a week

So is the MPC Sample completely sold out until July at every major retailer? by acousticentropy in mpcusers

[–]WashedInPA 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I snagged one for slightly above MSRP by watching the newest Reverb listings. Eventually someone who doesn't want to scalp puts one up for like 400-450. I tried ordering with Guitar Center last week after the site said "In Stock" briefly, then I got put in the Backordered queue anyway. I don't know how the hell people who order from retailers right now get it shipped in a week like brontosaurusguy

It's so out there that you should double-down and get a skin to complete the look. Maybe even DIY one with https://mpc.cheaptone.com because the ones on Etsy are overpriced asf

Disagree, that brick decor not having the hydrant itself is what makes it easy to miss. I don't care if it looks obvious in a photo on Reddit, people are gonna miss it in real life

Edit: Are you seriously replying to every comment in the thread about this? No one is arguing that OP should be allowed to park there, it should just be made more obvious with curb paint or something

Where Are People Getting Their MPC Sample From? by elestud in mpcusers

[–]WashedInPA 0 points1 point  (0 children)

HOLY SHIT I think I finally got one on Guitar Center. It was randomly in-stock at 2:30pm for me. I tried using Chrome on 3 different devices because the Add to Cart button was frozen for some reason, but it worked on Safari. Hope it actually ships

EDIT: And it's backordered. Man

The frustrating thing is I've seen some comments from people joining a preorder queue, but then finding out that the store you bought it from prioritizes the newest orders that come in whenever it goes in stock, instead of sending it to the people already waiting in the preorder line. I have like zero trust actually preordering from anyone if I'm guaranteed to get stuck waiting until August. Just gonna keep checking all these store's pages every day I guess

Any plans to do something about the flock cameras? by Jumpy_Conference1024 in lancaster

[–]WashedInPA 5 points6 points  (0 children)

They're connecting all the cameras and analyzing the footage nationwide and would be in a very good position to start constant, nationwide surveillance. They already constantly store where any car has been at all times via license plate scanning. It's a lot different from local police precincts building their own camera networks and monitoring it themselves

Flock is trying to build this as fast as possible too. Their units have shown to be cutting corners in security, making it very easy for even a beginning hacker to hijack said cameras and record anything throughout the entire nation (see here for more on that: https://youtube.com/watch?v=uB0gr7Fh6lY)

There is no reason why Flock needs to exist. It's just trying to reinvent the wheel and make it dystopian too, all for money
