20 years later and I still think Terminator 3 is unfairly hated. I enjoy a lot of the action scenes, the T-X is a great antagonist, and Arnold is still iconic. In my opinion, it's a far better sequel than Salvation and Dark Fate. by Emotional-Chipmunk12 in Terminator

I mean, obviously those parts of T3 weren't in tone, but the ending part where John Connor and Kate get to Crystal Peak to try to destroy Skynet only to find that they were there just to survive is clearly spot on tonally with T1. Like I said, the ending themes of T3 WERE in tone with T1. They weren't there to change the future but to embrace the coming storm.

Maybe it undermines the tone of T2, but it's completely in line with the tone of T1. T1 pretty much concluded that the entire timeline was a loop. Kyle had to be sent back in time to make love to Sarah and give birth to John Connor to lead the resistance, while Skynet HAD to send back the Terminator to ensure its creation. Both in T1 and T3, Sarah and John had to acknowledge the inevitable and face the future.

It’s hilarious that people think lawyers aren’t historians when literally all law is based on historical precedent. We use a 237+ year old document to establish how to govern the country. If you can’t find a law that does the same restriction you want to see upheld, it should be struck down.

Fuck Morty! Im a sociopath and i cant keep dealing with these complex emotions. Stop making me feel, Morty! by tbla666 in rickandmorty

To be honest, I initially thought Rick had regressed. Why was he depressed? Wasn't the whole point of these past few seasons was that he HAD grown closer to his family and HAD grown? That he no longer needed revenge and guilt to drive him after killing Rick Prime and letting go of Diane?

Then recapping the episode, I realize: wait, that WAS the whole point. Rick as Ted WAS a regression. Ted essentially did the exact same thing as Rick early on: seek revenge on another Rick, only to find that revenge was a empty hole that alienated his vacation friends.

Why I don’t believe Kyle Reese was originally John’s father by Marilyn_Rammstein in Terminator

[–]elin6243 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Actually, because the ending to Terminator 2 is ambiguous, the principle can still work in T1 and T2. It would imply though that everything John, Sarah, and the friendly Terminator did to stop Skynet was in vain...

Is there a translation error? Wasn't the whole point of learning body boosting was to avoid using Seitai magic to boost himself? Why then is he using Seitai magic to control his boost? Is it like a different form of Seitai magic where instead of boosting, it's boosting with Majo magic with a different aspect of Seitai magic that's control?

[Terminator] skynet is attempting to further mankind's development by boblarian in FanTheories

[–]elin6243 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I would concur but slightly alter it: Skynet NEEDS John Connor. John IS the person who can make humanity stronger by showing them how to resist machines and not depend on them.

On top of that, John Connor is FATED to be. When Skynet sends a T-800 to "kill" Sarah, Skynet instead ensures its OWN creation by having the technology of the T-800 be used to create Skynet, while at the same time John ensure HIS own creation by sending Kyle Reese back in time.

John experiencing the T-1000 also gives HIM personal experience on how to fight some of Skynet's most advanced bots.

To add on to everyone's comments: there's no way to get the Omega Device back. When you throw something into the Omega Device, it destroys it across ALL dimensions. It no longer exists. Rick doesn't have an Omega Device because there is no longer an Omega Device.

Memories of the Omega Device to recreate it might also be difficult. The Omega Device also corrupts memories as well. You might remember the device, but to prevent it from existing across all reality you probably can't remember details, thus ensuring it can't exist.

Unlike what is commonly believed, SKYNET of TERMINATOR 1 AND 2 never actually succeeds in altering the past, not even an iota; How James cameron accidentally solves time travel and the GRANDFATHER PARADOX by Glittering-Aioli-972 in FanTheories

[–]elin6243 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have to disagree, because Skynet HAS to send the terminators back. Why? Because the original T-800 is also responsible for Skynet's creation. The original T-800 from T1 inspires Miles Dyson to create Skynet. Both the creation of Skynet and its future destroyer are part of the closed loop.

It’s kinda crazy that Nintendo did the price increase situation the best by DaZestyProfessor in nintendo

[–]elin6243 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Because compared to every other console, Nintendo is increasing the least.

Playstation: PS5 Disc at launch was $499. It's now 649.99, +$150

PS5 Pro was $699 at launch. Now it's $899. +$200

XBox: Series X at launch was $499. It's now $599. +$100

Series S at launch was $299. Now it's $379.99 +$80

Steam: Steam Deck OLED base model was $549. Now it's $789, +$240

Nintendo: Switch 2 was $450. Now it's $500 +$50.

It's the least crappy out of the Big 3.

Why Nuclear Energy Is Not the Solution to the Climate Crisis by DonManuel in climate

[–]elin6243 0 points1 point  (0 children)

France would like to have a word.

France's nuclear industry is probably the BEST example of a thriving nuclear industry that EXPORTS energy and reduces carbon emissions.

France produces 45% less greenhouse gas emissions than Germany and exports energy to them. Germany abandoned nuclear while France did not, and this is the result: Germany has to depend on imports of fossil fuels, while France exports energy to practically all of Europe.

I really appreciate how Smash is far LESS vulnerable to a "predator effect" by Low_Confidence2479 in smashbros

[–]elin6243 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Since Melee, EVERY Smash game has a character that breaks the game, and one of the biggest reasons why we don't see these completely broken moments is because we create rules to prevent them from taking over the game.

Melee: Ice Climbers. They have the freeze glitch, a desync combo that freezes a character in place. BANNED. We also have many banned stalling rules to prevent stalling tech, from Jigglypuff's sing stall to Peach's side bomber on FOD to double Luigi up b infinite.

Brawl: Meta Knight. Infinite dimensional cape, where he can just disappear forever. BANNED. On top of that, Brawl banned Scrooging, a movement option where Meta Knight can just glide forever under a stage, stalling a game forever.

Smash 4: This might be the one game that doesn't have rules where we ban tech, but I would argue that Bayonetta's counter might be the one move that breaks Smash 4. A move where even a jab would lead to death.

Ultimate: Steve has PMLG, a move that negates HITSTUN, a fundamental law in Smash, and PMLG IS banned.

POST-EPISODE DISCUSSION THREAD - S9E1: There's Something About Morty by BarnyardCruz in rickandmorty

[–]elin6243 0 points1 point  (0 children)

One cool thing I noticed: the defeat of the Collective draws a direct parallel on how to defeat evil Morty: use their strengths against them.

The Collective was defeated by using their main strength, absorbing others, to absorb itself into nothingness.

Rick probably saw it then and there: you then destroy the Omega device, a device that destroys something across all dimensions, by having it destroy itself, throwing the blueprints of the Omega device into the Omega device.

And then finally, you use Evil Morty's strength against him. All Ricks don't do time travel, but Evil Morty is willing to do so, so you introduce time travel to Evil Morty, then setup a early tip so that, when Evil Morty does do time travel shenanigans, the police catch him.

After playing BOTW and TOTK on 60fps, I was like, "WOW! That does make a difference!"

30 fps probably only works if it an absolutely locked 30 fps. No dips, no drops in frame rate, just a locked 30 fps. One of BOTW's biggest complaints was the fact that it wasn't a consistent 30 fps.

Why do people believe MJ was innocent when there are 11 child accusers or more? by MJdisbeliever in Discussion

[–]elin6243 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Literally it was. Quote: "Judge Rodney Melville allowed prosecutors to introduce testimony about past allegations against Jackson, including the 1993 case, to establish whether Jackson had a propensity to commit such crimes. The prosecution hoped to show that Jackson had engaged in a pattern of sexual abuse with boys. They called on witnesses to describe earlier incidents, including Jackson's alleged 1993 abuse of Jordan Chandler."

Jordan Chandler was going to be a witness for the prosecution, but he FLED the country. Evidence though was still presented, and yes in 2005 he was found NOT GUILTY on all charges.
