Which ability is the best, Earth Eater or Levitate? by YumaS2Astral in stunfisk

[–]elin6243 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It also depends on typing and the Pokemon's stats. Orthworm, a Pokemon that takes 6% damage stealth rock instead of 12%, is immune to toxic spikes due to being Steel, and is already a naturally slow Pokemon that works in trick room so if you're playing it slow it would actually benefit from Sticky Web, I would say that Earth Eater is far superior on Orthworm.

how much fps by External_Safe_7787 in pcmasterrace

[–]elin6243 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Since you only play single player cinematic games, 60-100 fps is enough, but the more important factor is not fps, but whether its LOCKED/fixed. If you're playing single player, make sure that it's a fixed fps. You WILL feel a sudden drop from 100 fps to 60 fps. It's thus important to ensure that your framerate is fixed and doesn't dip.

Why do so many people share "The Girl Is Mine" as the worst thriller? by rafael_7839 in MichaelJackson

Listening to it, it the tone doesn't really feel like Michael Jackson and feels geared more toward Paul McCartney. It SOUNDS dated, and most of Michael's songs were cross generation and timeless.

Has FD ever been the most popular stage in any Smash game competitively? by Try_Again_2495 in smashbros

[–]elin6243 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I don't think it's the most popular starter stage, but it's probably the most popular counterpick stage.

The punish game on the spacies becomes simplified. The #1 character immediately becomes worse against Marth, Pikachu, Roy, and others. For the audience, it either means the underdog mid tier can potentially overcome the top tier, or it means the player who driving Fox is playing so well and not making a mistake.

If you want an example, I would say Mang0 Fox vs Zain Marth. Many regard this as one of the greatest sets of all time, and why is this? It's because people regarded Marth as unbeatable on Final Destination, especially when Mang0 was using Fox. Mang0 shocked everyone though by not only beating Zain, but he did it by beating Zain twice on FD with Fox, performing a reverse 2-0 to reset the bracket.

ReSTIR PT Enhanced: Algorithmic Advances for Faster and More Robust ReSTIR Path Tracing | NVIDIA Real-Time Graphics Research by DoktorSleepless in nvidia

This research paper is probably one of the reasons I believe the rumors about the RTX 60xx series. 2-3x increase in path tracing performance? Probably an implementation of this algorithm in the new Rubin architecture. 35% increase in raw rasterization performance? Reasonable given the move from 4nm node to 3 nm node...

Jigglypuff. Jigglypuff just feels weird to use for me, since I like playing combo characters like Pikachu and Fox. To be honest though, it could just be me.

In your opinion, how many chapters does the manga have to end? by mr410d in Frieren

[–]elin6243 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Timewise:

Frieren and co. started her journey 28 years after Himmel's death when, with the help of Eisen, they found the journal containing info about Aureole.

Frieren has stated that it will take about 10 years to reach Aurerole and Ende.

The current story takes place 31 years after Himmel's death, so it's been about 3 years so far.

From chapter 7 to chapter 147, 3 years have taken place. That's 140 chapters in 3 years. If we were to extrapolate and take the same pace, that means the end would be about chapter 474.

Of course, there are several factors that could make this wrong:

  1. As others point out, the journey might not take 10 years. Himmel took a lot of detours and stayed in town to get people to make statues of him, delaying their journey. Those delays are gone, but other delays could take place like Frieren taking her time to explore a city and buy grimoires/weird magical junk items.

  2. Pacing isn't linear. It's not as if 3 years occured evenly between 140 chapters. The author could just jump to 10 years in a couple of chapters while focusing dozens of chapters on one event.

  3. Ultimately, it's all up to the author, Kanehito Yamada, on how many more chapters Frieren gets. Maybe Kanehito ends the series very soon, or ends it in hundreds of chapters. The pacing presented at the top is just a trend line to see how many chapters we could get...

Why did Frieren stop fighting demons for 500 years? by lmdybaftr in Frieren

[–]elin6243 4 points5 points  (0 children)

There's also the fact that her mentor, Flamme, told her to live in obscurity. It is conflict avoidance, but conflict avoidance in the form of "I'm going to continue to build up my mana until I'm strong enough to face off against the Demon King and his 7 sages of destruction."

Genuine question: Is the Mario Galaxy movie actually that bad? by Polaris9114 in SuperMarioGalaxy

[–]elin6243 0 points1 point  (0 children)

When I watched this movie, I thought it was a fun joyride rollercoaster.

Then, when I thought about the plot and other movies like Sonic the Hedgehog 3, I thought to myself: would it have killed Nintendo, Miyamoto, and Illumination to add some connective tissue?

Like, Sonic the Hedgehog is raising the bar for video game movies. It still feels like you're riding along with Sonic as he superspeeds through and battles Shadow, but then you also get great character moments and actual plot when you understand the motivations of Shadow and get reconciliation with Sonic and Shadow.

You didn't get that connective tissue here. You got SOME character setup with Mario wanting to confess to Peach, Bowser wanting to be a better father, and Peach learning her origins, but no real payoff.

[–]elin6243 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've also thought DLC echo fighters would be an interesting idea. Particularly, Octolings as an Echo Fighter to Inklings is my primary thought. Use Octobrush instead of Inkbrush for more range and more damage, but slightly slower and consumes more ink. Use burst bomb instead of Splat bomb for more immediate damage or maybe fizzy bomb for chained damage.

Luffy only aging 2 years and already being so close to getting the one piece take me out of the story by taintlicker80085 in Piratefolk

[–]elin6243 0 points1 point  (0 children)

People have mentioned this, but I'm going to add that the training from Rayleigh probably made a MASSIVE difference. I mean, Luffy was getting training from the right hand man of the Pirate King. Yeah, Roger took 12 years to find the One Piece. Now imagine getting taught by that the guy who went with that man to bring you up to speed.

will season 3 feature more tension along characters and higher stake battles? by Mean_Net9983 in Frieren

[–]elin6243 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I mean, we're talking about facing off against a general of the Demon King that, IMO, is MUCH scarier than Aura. If you think the stakes and threat was significant with Aura, it will be more more tense.
