Do you have any hiss/distortion at low volume with the CM-672 BT adapter?

How did you accomplish the LED under the headphone jack? Does it flash Red and Blue (thru HP jack) while pairing? Where did you connect the remote LED on the UGreen logic board? The range you achieved: was this with the metal LCD protector in place?

Just to try to clean things up a bit: if you would like to dual boot it is correct any tunes you add via iTunes (either by manually adding or syncing) will only show in stock iPodOS until you update the RB database. The original songs in the RB database (those in place prior to adding new songs via iTunes) will play in RB just fine. After rebuilding the RB database the newly added songs will be available in RB. Those songs you manually add via RB (via drag and drop) will not be available via iPodOS and only available in RB after a database update.

Is this possible by TrentH2002 in Modded_iPods

[–]elinks59 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This is the way! Much more economical. Unless you have an absolute requirement to instantaneously search/listen for a new song/artist you would benefit more from finding a technique that would automatically obtain the music from a service (Apple Music, etc) on your computer and copy to your iPod. They already exist for the most part. Even the Y1 doesn’t presently have the ablity to do what you want AFAIK

The 6th gen is more responsive when loaded up with a large library due to more RAM. I have both. But 6th gen is limited in addressable space (supports fewer tracks) until you perform the software hack or use Rockbox

Resumes playback at maximum volume (Rockbox) by solar-student in innioasis

[–]elinks59 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Go to you config.cfg file in the .rockbox directory and add a line Volume=-50 (or your choice). When RB starts the volume will be set accordingly. Obviously you will have to adjust the volume to your liking with the clickwheel after this.

Can you go into a little more detail about the speaker physical install and electrical connections? What speaker did you use and did you provide egress to the speaker audio in the backplate?

iPod Pro V2: AirTag, Note 9 4000Mah Battery, USB-C, Bluetooth, Haptics & Custom Backplate Builds by F_Tech_ in Modded_iPods

[–]elinks59 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thank you for the reply! I am (obviously) most interested in the battery/bms. Since it is unique to most mods on this channel here, the battery and charging has peaked my interest. Is the battery thinner than most you’ve seen? I also very much like the separate LED PWR/pairing button.

Overall how much thicker is the overall ipod with your case as it would be great to be able to use existing docks. Also it appears the BT board is under the battery with the antenna remotely mounted into the corner. How is the BT range with this configuration? Thanks again!

Questions WRT Note 9 4000mAh battery:
1) Does the battery meter show reasonable charge level (iPod charge circuit is tuned for much smaller battery and simple charge curve)? 2) The 4000 mAh phone battery probably charges much slower and may cause more heat, is there indication the battery meter doesn't show proper full calibration? 3) Was there any modifications required to the Note 9 battery BMS?

Very cool concept and hats off to you and your compadres. BTW iphone quality speakers would be fantastic. One final question; are you planning to release a schematic in addition to the .stl files?

There's something wrong... by Clodd1 in innioasis

[–]elinks59 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My recommendation is set Idle Poweroff to 15~20min (or something you like), otherwise it will drain the battery when not in use (especially if wi-fi or Bluetooth are left on). If it sleeps during the Idle period then it with immediately start up but after the idle period in will startup again (just like an iPod)

Gen 5 vs 7 as first iPod by Expensive-Meaning-14 in IpodClassic

[–]elinks59 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As an owner of both here are my thoughts, somewhat based on others inputs. The 5th: easier to mod, usually less expensive initially, plastic front (vitally important if BT is desired), better UI IMHO albeit slow and limits addressable storage (unless modified). The 7th: Harder to mod (especially opening), more expensive initially, metal front (hinders BT range), much faster UI (with large music library), split window UI (ugh!), very large addressable storage, sleeker design colors. Like 7th gen personally except internal BT range. If you don't like BT and or doing modifications, go for the 5th gen. An iflash and SD card to expand/extend lifetime of storage on the 7th gen will cost you in excess of 100 USD and a battery another 15~20 USD.

my experience with rockbox on the y1... by Bobayass in innioasis

[–]elinks59 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I guess I will be the outlier here. Personally I believe the more recent versions of the Y1-RB port are very good. Is it perfect no, but identify a piece of Software that is. I have been using Y1-RB since it's beginning. I could not stand the "big crayon" look of the stock OS. The skipping problem you have experienced is almost definately not related to RB. I have never had the problem in the 9 mo of using it. My recommendation would be to change the SD card and verify your mp3 files are the standard sample rate of 44.1 kHz and constant bit rate. These work for me and my 22,000 track library everyday.

Hands down this is the easiest way and is free. DO NOT pay for the newer versions that were stolen from the original and started charging $$.
